Paddy Power’s football ambassador Phil Thompson never sleeps and he returns once more to take a look at Thursday’s bonus action in the Premier League. It’s Tottenham v Brentford getting a going over here in what is yet another London derby.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Brentford are just three points behind Spurs and will leapfrog them with a win given their superior goal difference. Spurs are in terrible shape and Antonio Conte is struggling to put his stamp on their squad. With plenty to ponder, here’s Thommo’s Tottenham v Brentford tips.

It’s a London derby, that’s what we’ve got to remember. Did Spurs want the game against Burnley to be postponed? Probably not, because the criticism that came their way because of that defeat against Mura was shocking. Questions were being asked about Conte, were being asked about the team, the personnel.
They’d have probably wanted to get back on that bike at the weekend and play Burnley but it was off so maybe they’ve been able to regroup a little bit. They’ve conceded 17 goals in their last nine Premier League games. You do start fancying Brentford to score a goal in this.
Spurs have only had 124 goal attempts and I think only Norwich who have had fewer so it’s not even been great on the offensive side. Ivan Toney’s scored two in two for Brentford, but he has found goals hard to come by.
Then, after having four successive Premier League defeats, they had a 3-3 draw up at Newcastle and then beat Everton 1-0 which was a massive game for them. You could see the joy on the fans’ faces, on the manager’s face after the game. It was a bit of a bounce.
But, because they’ll still be feeling that Conference League defeat, I do expect Spurs to Win but this is going to be tight. I’m going for Spurs to Win 2-1 and Son Heung-min to score one of those goals.
