Roll up, roll up, it’s time for Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson to hold court once again in search of some potential winners in the Premier League. Coming under the microscope here is Saturday’s action, including the two televised games that bookend the day’s play.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Arsenal v Newcastle kicks us off before The Kop face their former feeder club in the shape of Liverpool v Southampton. Finally it’s Brighton v Leeds in the late game with both sides looking a little out of form. So, here’s Thommo’s comprehensive shake down of Saturday in the Premier League.

12.30pm: Arsenal v Newcastle

TV: BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate

No Eddie Howe for Newcastle again and they enjoyed it, didn’t they, last week? It’s great that they scored three goals against Brentford but they conceded three again and looked really porous. They’ve conceded 27 goals, have Newcastle.

I’m trying to look at positives but it’s hard to find them. Only Norwich are as bad on 27 conceded, so that is incredible. They’re still the only side without a Premier League win which makes it hard to find them something in this game.

Arsenal lost to Liverpool last time. That was their first defeat in a long time and a bit of a damaging one, 4-0. Their first defeat in 11 games.

But listen, there’s not going to be a loads of goals, this is not going to be like that, because Arsenal have scored just 13 goals in 12 games. Arsenal and Newcastle last season met each other three times. Who won? Arsenal in all of them.

I think you can see where I’m going. Out of their last 18 meetings, Arsenal have won 17. This is all pointing towards an Arsenal win, an Arsenal Win to Nil and a clean sheet and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang to Score Anytime. I’m going for Arsenal to win this 2-0 as well, guys.

3pm: Liverpool v Southampton

I was at the game in midweek against Porto. Liverpool, without getting into second gear won that game comfortably.

Liverpool are the top scorers, it’s now 35 Premier League goals they’ve got, and they are the only side to have scored in every Premier League game. Get this, they’ve scored at least two goals in their last 16 games in all competitions, 49 goals in total, so you do fancy them.

The Reds have won their last four against Southampton at Anfield, scoring 12 and conceding zero. Southampton have had a little bit of a comeback except for that game against Norwich which they lost. That was their first defeat in five Premier League games but they’ve only scored 11 goals. Only the Canaries have bagged fewer with seven. For this I am going for Liverpool to Win to Nil.

I’m going, maybe at a better price because everybody’s going to be on Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota to Score Anytime. He has a great record and was rested in midweek. He will come back into this game.

3pm: Treble

It’s wins for Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Wolves for me. There’s more on my turbo treble picks here.

5.30pm: Brighton v Leeds

TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

With Brighton, you go ‘Wow, haven’t they done well under Graham Potter?’ they were 4th at one time and going really well. But, listen to this. They’ve had no win in seven but they’ve drawn five of them. On the one hand they’ve not won any, but they’ve been proving hard to beat. They’ve lost just two in all competitions of their last 12 home games. I’m edging towards Brighton in this.

Leeds did do well in the first half at Spurs but they just lost heir way in the second. The only wins for Leeds this season have been against Norwich and Watford and have just one victory in their last six away Premier League games. They have missed Raphinha but it was through illness, not injury, so I expect him to be back and that will give the Leeds fans a bit of a lift.

Brighton have won eight of their last nine games against Leeds and not lost in their last seven games at the Amex against them, winning each of the last five. Everything is pointing to a Brighton Win. I also think Both Teams to Score. It will be tight.

12.30pm: Arsenal v Newcastle
Arsenal to Win
Arsenal to Win to Nil
Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang to Score Anytime
Arsenal to Win 2-0

3pm: Liverpool v Southampton
Liverpool to Win to Nil
Diogo Jota to Score Anytime

5.30pm: Brighton v Leeds
Brighton to Win
Both Teams To Score
