Sunday’s late game sees a meeting of two teams who have been really disappointing this season. Tottenham have already changed manager and are 10th while Leeds are unrecognisable from last season and are languishing in 17th.
Antonio Conte has arrived in north London looking to organise Spurs at the back and breathe some life into their forward line. For Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, it’s all about rediscovering their mojo which made them the best team to watch in the top flight last term.
Who’s going to come out on top? I think this might be a bit of a slog with each side looking to get a result at any cost to generate some momentum and kick-start their season. Here’s a Bet Builder for Sunday’s late game.
Sunday 4.30pm: Tottenham v Leeds Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
I can’t see this being a free-flowing feast of football. Tottenham haven’t scored scored in three or even registered a shot on target in their last two Premier League games. Conte will be focusing on stopping the goals first before setting a platform to work on the attack.
They got a 0-0 against Everton last time out and looked completely toothless while Leeds are scoring fairly regularly but simply can’t keep them out at the other end. They’ve now gone five games in all competitions without a shutout.
But today could be the day, given everything outlined above. Spurs do have some quality attacking options but, with both in pretty poor scoring form, you have to be on Under 2.5 Goals.
Leeds winger Rodrigo might not be expected to feature near the top of the naughty list but there he is. The Spaniard has already picked up four yellow cards in just 10 games this term – the most of anyone likely to start.
He’s a very generous price to make that five in 11 in what could be a bitty and fractious game. With a large number of cards already, and at the price, Rodrigo to be carded is well worth a go.
With defence coming first here we’re unlikely to see much action around the area or, frankly, too many clear attempts on goal. Neither side are recording particularly high corner stats this season and it’s worth siding with Under 10.5 Corners.
I know I’m painting quite a bleak picture of this match but it’s just how I see it going. In a potentially low-scoring affair I think Both Teams To Score? No is a likely outcome.
It’s landed in eight of Spurs’ 11 Premier League games this term but just two of Leeds’ last five. The difference for Leeds is that they’ve generally been facing sides who want to come out and play. I’m not convinced Conte will be ready to do that with Spurs just yet so it’s safer to side with the less exciting option of the two.
