Feels a bit odd having all these games on a Sunday and only two on the telly. We should be used to it now, of course, but the unwelcome arrival of the Europa Conference League means there’s even more potential for Thursday night trips to God-knows where and random early Sunday kick offs.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

This weekend is no different with three such games as Arsenal and Watford take centre stage on the telly, in the UK at least, at 2pm. You could quite easily argue that there’s two bigger and better games hidden away at the same time with Everton taking on Tottenham and Leeds hosting Leicester.

But while my dreams of becoming a big-shot TV exec will have to remain on the back burner for now, I can at least try and help you unearth some winners in the Premier League’s 2pm Sunday games. And, you know what? I think I’ve found some tasty value for a Sunday lunchtime feast of football.

Arsenal v Watford – Arsenal to win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0

Who could have predicted that after Arsenal’s shambolic 5-0 mauling at the hands of Manchester City, to make in three losses from three at the start of the season, that this Gunners side would not have lost since? Certainly not me. It’s nine games in all competitions since they’ve tasted defeat.

A side more used to it in recent times are Sunday’s opponents Watford and their new cuddly manager Claudio Ranieri. He’s won one and lost two since replacing whoever the last person to fall off the Hornets’ merry-go-round was.

They should, by all accounts, struggle here. Arsenal have conceded just four goals over their last nine games (0.44 per game), scoring 17 at an average of 1.88 per game. The five Watford scored against Everton was an aberration and other than that game they’ve score just one in the other four of their last five.

It’s all pointing towards an Arsenal win to Nil, however I think we can eke a bit more value out of it via Paddy’s Correct Score Combinations. Arsenal, for all their improvement, have scored no more than three goals in a single game in the Premier League this term. Throw all this into the pot and Arsenal to Win 1-0. 2-0 or 3-0 is a lovely one for our treble.

Everton v Tottenham – Both Teams To Score & Over 2.5 Goals

Next we’re looking at one club who have just changed manager, Tottenham, heading to another side who might be in need of a new one soon, Everton. Rafa Benitez was always going to be fighting up uphill battle at Goodison and just one win in the last seven games in all competitions is turning the mole hill into a mountain.

The Toffees have lost their last three, conceding eight and scoring three in the process. What to make of Tottenham? I thought Antonio Conte’s arrival would have an immediate impact but it was all alarmingly Spursy midweek against Vitesse Arnhem as they raced into a 3-0 lead before being pegged back to 3-2 and going down to 10 men.

They bravely held on against the, in the end, nine men of The Eredivisie’s 5th best club. Conte looked rightly worried and it’s clear that the problems there are not as simple as pressing the big red button marked ‘world-class manager’.

One positive was their first-half attacking display and I think, with them still shipping goals, we could be in for plenty of action here. Little bit of a hunch play, as they tend to be with new managers in the mix, but your best bet here could be Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals if recent form is anything to go by.

Leeds v Leicester – Leicester to Win and Both Teams to Score

Who’s that coming up the crisis conveyor belt? Why it’s 2020/21 darlings Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds. The Yorkshire side did record a much-needed win over whipping boys Norwich last time out but that was just their second win in 10 games in all competitions.

They take on stuttering Leicester who are in the queue to be loaded onto the dreaded conveyor. They looked to be finding their feet with three wins on the bounce in the middle of last month before drawing two and losing one since.

So, what the hell is going to happen here? Hard to tell really, but I don’t think we can be on Leeds. The more I look at Leicester’s recent run the more excuses I’m finding for them being a bit below par. They’ve played the all-conquering Arsenal and impressive Brighton as well as gaining a draw in the Europa League which, frankly, it looks like they’re trying to slip out of. We can discount that.

I think on the whole Leicester are getting better even if their defence isn’t. They’ve conceded in every one of their last nine games with Millwall the last time to fail to score against them. You would expect Leeds to do the same and you can rely on the hosts to concede as well. They let one in against Norwich, for crying out loud.

They’ve conceded in five of their last six, scoring in four of them. Leicester will help them out in that department and I think BTTS is nailed on for The Foxes here again. To add some serious bang for our buck I think we’ll add the away victory with Leicester to Win and Both Teams To Score to round off our big-value treble.
