Liverpool God and Paddy Power ambassador Phil Thompson is looking forward to watching his beloved, shot-happy Reds in action again this weekend. This time Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool head to Brentford for the late game on Saturday at 5.30pm.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
Here to rein in Thommo’s enthusiasm is Paddy’s top football trader Jason Murphy who thinks he’s found a great angle for this game which Liverpool are big favourites in. So where’s the lads’ cash going?
5.30pm: Brentford v Liverpool
TV: Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League
THOMMO
Liverpool have now had 125 attempts at goal in five games. If people like a little bit of a punt, Liverpool to have 20 or More Shots in this game would be quite interesting with this. Liverpool, it’s quite astonishing, to have that many chances and not be the league’s top goal scorers.
Sadio Mane’s now coming back into it but, a little bit of hope for Brentford, all 13 of the sides who have accrued eight points or more after five games have avoided relegation which is quite interesting. For those who thought about Brentford for relegation, they’re doing quite well at the moment.
They’ve only conceded two in five games which is great. Marcus Forss scored four against Oldham in the week, it will be quite interesting if he, Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo all start together. There are goals in this game.
Liverpool have scored six of their 12 goals from set plays which is an interesting angle. So, I’m going for Both Teams To Score in this game, I think you’ll agree with me, Jason. I think Liverpool will Win 2-1 and Sadio Mane to Score Anytime.

We’ve been big fans of Brentford coming up from The Championship. They’ve been knocking on the door for a while and prior to this weekend we had them 9/2 to be relegated this season and that’s a great stat that Phil’s said there about promoted teams.
We’ve had one of the bigger prices on Brentford to be relegated this season because we believe that they will stay up whereas if you look at Norwich they’re yet to put a point on the board heading into this weekend.
Brentford have been very impressive, they don’t give much away. Having said that, 125 shots in five games is a phenomenal total and if you buy enough tickets eventually you’re going to win. The one angle I might look at is Ivan Toney to Score First.
He’s on penalties, he’s a cool as a cucumber when he takes them and, let’s be honest, Crystal Palace had a stone-wall penalty not given against Liverpool last week which could have changed the story of that game. If the referees are strong enough to give a penalty against Liverpool this weekend then Ivan Toney will be the man to take it.
Brentford v Liverpool tips
Thommo: Liverpool to Have 20 or More Shots, Both Teams To Score, Liverpool to Win 2-1, Sadio Mane to Score Anytime
