Newcastle v Leeds

Betting Tips: OUR SMART 24/1 BET BUILDER FOR NEWCASTLE V LEEDS ON FRIDAY
Kick-Off Time: Friday 20:00
TV Channel: Sky Sports Main Event & Sky Sports Premier League

LEEDS TO WIN

It is Newcastle who will be more concerned by their disappointing start to the season. Leeds’s performances have not been convincing by any means, but they can at least point to the fact that they have already played Manchester United, Liverpool, and an in-form Everton.

OVER 3.5 GOALS

It is not hard to see why Leeds and Newcastle both find themselves in the bottom four at this early stage of the season, considering they’re absolutely horrific defensive records. Newcastle boast the worst defence in the division with 12 goals conceded after four games – a record of three goals conceded per game – while only basement club Norwich have conceded as many goals as Leeds’s 11.

PATRICK BAMFORD TO HAVE THREE OR MORE SHOTS

The Leeds frontman attempted 107 shots last season at a rate of almost three per game and is on course to match that shooting record at this early stage of the season. Coming up against a Newcastle side that has faced 71 shots in its first four games of the season, Bamford should have no problem maintaining his shooting averages on Friday night.

UNDER 10.5 CORNERS

Neither Leeds nor Newcastle have won a flurry of corners in any of their games at this early stage of the campaign. Newcastle have won 18 corners in their four games so far, at an average of 4.5 corners per game. Meanwhile, Leeds have fared only slightly better with 19 corners in their opening four games.

NEWCASTLE TO HAVE FOUR OR MORE SHOTS ON TARGET

For all their defensive woes, Newcastle have actually been quite adventurous this season, attempting 48 shots on goal and finding the target on 12 occasions. They take on a Leeds side that has faced an identical number of shots as them on Friday night and will look to pepper Illan Meslier’s goal throughout.

Wolves v Brentford

Betting Tips: START THE WEEKEND RIGHT WITH OUR 27/1 WOLVES V BRENTFORD BET BUILDER
Kick-Off Time: Saturday 12:30
TV Channel: BT Sport 1 and BT Sport Ultimate

THE DRAW

This game has all the makings of a stalemate. Despite the fact that Wolves have lost three games on the trot at home, I can see them holding out against Brentford with Hwang Hee-Chan stepping upto the mark like he did against Watford if Brentford take a lead.

UNDER 2.5 GOALS

Believe it or not, Wolves have seen Under 2.5 Goals in six of their last seven home games in the Prem while Brentford have seen Under 2.5 in all of their Premier League games to date. Don’t go getting your hopes up about a 7-7 barn burner!

RAUL JIMENEZ TO SCORE ANYTIME

Step one was getting him back onto the pitch, step two was getting him starts and step three? Well, that’s getting him on the scoresheet of course! He’s got 34 goals in his 90 Premier League appearances to date (0.38 goals per 90) which means he is well overdue a goal this weekend.

HOME TEAM OVER 5.5 CORNERS

Wolves play from wide primarily down the left with Traore on one wing and either Francisco Trincao or Hee-Chan off the far side. 43% of Wolves attacks so far this season have been launched from the left wing. They’ve averaged just over five corners per game since the start of the season. Brentford will be happy to try and hold Wolves out wide and limit them to opportunities from set pieces.

Burnley v Arsenal

Betting Tips: OUR 13/1 BTTS ACCUMULATOR FOR SATURDAY’S PREMIER LEAGUE GAMES
Kick-Off Time: Saturday 15:00

BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE – YES

Arsenal have netted once, but created enough chances to have landed nearly five. Burnley have amassed roughly the same xG total, but have found the net on three occasions. For those under-performances to date and the fact probability tells me Arsenal can’t have five Premier League games in-a-row where one side fails to score, it’s a yes from me.

Liverpool v Crystal Palace

Betting Tips: BAG OUR 40/1 SATURDAY ACCA FEATURING THE BIGGEST NAMES IN THE GAME
Kick-Off Time: Saturday 15:00

LIVERPOOL TO WIN TO NIL

Liverpool have now won four of their last five games, drawing the other. Palace, on the other hand, have only won one of their last five fixtures, drawing two and losing two and, most worryingly of all, have only scored in two of those five games. Liverpool have beaten Palace at Anfield in four of their five previous league meetings. The Red have kept them scoreless on three occasions and Liverpool have kept three clean sheets over their last five home Premier League games.

PHIL THOMPSON’S PREDICTION: “I’ve watched Wilfred Zaha a lot, and he always saves his best games for the big teams – particularly Liverpool! He always seems to come up trumps when he faces The Reds, whether it’s at Anfield or Selhurst Park. He just likes to take on the opposition and I reckon he could have a goal in him here. Also, Palace have Odsonne Edouard – who has just arrived down south from Celtic – and he scored twice against Tottenham last week after coming on as a substitute. I reckon he will play in this one at the expense of Christian Benteke. All that has me fancying the Both Teams To Score bet here.”

Man City v Southampton

Betting Tips: BAG OUR 40/1 SATURDAY ACCA FEATURING THE BIGGEST NAMES IN THE GAME
Kick-Off Time: Saturday 15:00

MAN CITY TO WIN AND OVER 3.5 GOALS

Since losing both of their season opening games, 1-0 to Leicester in the Community Shield and 1-0 to Spurs in the League, City have really gotten their act together. They’ve won all four of their games since, scoring 17 and conceding three, all of which were against RB Leipzig in the Champions League midweek.

Norwich v Watford

Betting Tips: OUR 13/1 BTTS ACCUMULATOR FOR SATURDAY’S PREMIER LEAGUE GAMES
Kick-Off Time: Saturday 15:00

BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE – NO

I do believe this is a moment where we see which one of these is being relegated. Given commitment to philosophy and a headstrong Troy Deeney now in Birmingham, I reckon Norwich hold the advantage here. This is the toughest fixture to call to date, but when there’s a severe lack of players who can score from distance, I worry.

Aston Villa v Everton

Betting Tips: FIRE HOME THIS 25/1 SATURDAY BET BUILDER FOR ASTON VILLA V EVERTON
Kick-Off Time: Saturday 17:30
TV Channel: Sky Sports Main Event & Sky Sports Premier League

EVERTON TO WIN

Villa will struggle to keep Everton at bay here though, and that could be what determines the outcome of this match. They have only kept two clean sheets in their last 16 league matches, and while Emi Martinez should return in goal, the Blues are only one goal shy of being the joint-top scoring team in the early weeks of 2021/22.

BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE

Benitez’s boys have tended to concede too though, with their only clean sheet so far in this campaign coming against Brighton, every bettor’s nemesis thanks to how many chances they miss.

OLLIE WATKINS TO SCORE ANYTIME

Ollie Watkins finished last season in fantastic form. The former Brentford and Exeter man scored four goals in his final nine matches, including finding the net against Liverpool, Arsenal and Everton. Despite only making one start so far this season, he has rapidly climbed the infamous ‘most expected goals without scoring’ chart which nerds love to pore over when making goalscorer selections.

DEMARAI GRAY TO HAVE 1 OR MORE SHOTS ON TARGET

One player who hasn’t been struggling in front of goal is Everton new boy Demarai Gray. He has got on the score sheet in each of the Toffees’ last three league matches and is their top available goal scorer in Calvert-Lewin’s absence. However, while he may score again here, he has been running very hot in front of goal. To have scored three times from three shots on target and 0.9 expected goals is not sustainable in the long term.

PHIL THOMPSON’S PREDICTION: “Everton should win this, they’ve had a good start. Dominic Calvert-Lewin being out for a while is going to be a big loss. You’ve seen some of the goals that Everton scored against Burnley, one was an absolute worldie, one was from a set piece and for the other one everything just opened up for them.

“I do see Both Teams To Score here. I’ve actually written down Desmond, 2-2 for this one. Villa, absolutely fantastic against Chelsea last week. How the heck that ever ended up 3-0 is beyond me. They’ll score.”

CRAIG DAWSON TO SCORE ANYTIME

Have a look at Craig Dawson to score anytime, even from his centre half slot he’s had seven shots already this term. He also should have scored against Man United when these sides played last season too. David De Gea always comes under the microscope at set-pieces and Dawson carries a massive aerial threat for The Hammers.

Craig Dawson Anytime Goalscorer

PHIL THOMPSON’S PREDICTION: “I am expecting – with no Antonio available – Manchester United to win this game at the London Stadium. But, they will only have just enough to beat this impressive West Ham outfit.”
