The on-field fiasco that was Brazil vs Argentina last Sunday has taken all of the headlines in South American football and while it was nothing short of embarrassing there are matches to be played and a World Cup to be qualified for.

Thursday 11.30pm: Paraguay vs Venezuela: Paraguay Win & Under 2.5 Goals

Paraguay currently occupy sixth in the table, two points behind Colombia in the final qualification place. Venezuela are bottom with just four points from their eight games played. The sides have only met twice in recent years, with both teams beating the other by a goal to nil. Paraguay have only won one of their last five games, drawing two and losing two. Over their last five games on home soil they’ve won just one, drawing three and losing one, scoring seven and conceding seven too.

Venezuela have only won one of their last 10 fixtures. Things are a bit better on Venezuelan turf though, where they’ve won two of their last five, drawing one and losing two, scoring five and conceding five. Paraguay are a tough nut at home and Venezuela’s lack of goals should be the difference here. We’re backing Paraguay to Win and Under 2.5 Goals here.

Thursday 11.30pm: Uruguay vs Ecuador: Uruguay to Win

Uruguay look to have put their Copa America blues behind them and have collected four points from a possible six since then. Ecuador have also taken four points over their two games and had a better Copa America than their opponents here, going out to Argentina in the semi-finals.

The sides have met three times since 2016 with Uruguay winning two and Ecuador winning the other one, Over 2.5 goals landing in all three of those games, Both Teams to Score in two. Uruguay have won three of their last five at home, drawing and losing one apiece while Ecuador have won two and lost three of their last five. Both teams seem to be in good nick but Ecuador have only scored two over their last three games, Uruguay have scored five. The home side have the value to Win here.

Friday 12am: Colombia vs Chile: Colombia to Win

Colombia have only won one of their last five fixtures, Chile have won none. On home soil things have fared a bit better for Colombia though where they’ve won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five. Chile haven’t won any of their last five away games, drawing three and losing two, only scoring in three of those matches. The last three matches between the pair have ended level, with Chile winning one on penalties, however, Chile’s form has been awful and the home side should be able to handle them here.

Friday 12.30am: Argentina vs Bolivia: Argentina to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0

It’s been 22 matches now since Argentina lost a game. Over the 21 matches since then they’ve won 13, drawing eight, winning one on penalties. The sides have met five times since 2016 with Argentina winning four and Bolivia just one. Over 2.5 goals landed in three of those games, Both Teams To Score in just two.

Bolivia haven’t much of a hope here but Argentina rarely score a hatful – of their last seven home games they’ve only scored more than two goals on one occasion. The market fancies loads of goals here but Lionel Scaloni’s team are more than happy to take a low-scoring victory. We’re looking at a combination bet here; Argentina to Win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0.

Friday 1.30am: Brazil vs Peru: Brazil to Win and Over 1.5 goals

You’d rarely expect to see a Brazilian side low on confidence but the team will be eager to win and put the shenanigans of last weekend behind them. Brazil have won eight of their last 10 matches, drawing one and losing one and on home soil (including Copa America games) share the same stat, albeit they weren’t the official home team in the Copa America final loss to Argentina.

Peru have won just one of their last five matches and away from home (excluding the Copa matches) have only won one of their last five, drawing one and losing three. Brazil’s defence was pretty sturdy during the Copa but Peru certainly have the talent to get one. However, we still should be cautious here, this has the makings of a 2-0, 2-1 or above so we’re going to play it safe and back Brazil to Win and Over 1.5 goals.
