Saturday night sees yet another barrage of international football with France, Croatia, The Netherlands, Denmark and Croatia in action, to name just a few. The bulk of the action comes from Groups D, F, G and H but the keenest of eyes from these parts of the world will be on Group F where Scotland are battling for World Cup qualification.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

They’re 4th and in a three-way race for 2nd with Israel and Austria as Denmark currently hold a five-point cushion at the top of that group. I think I’ve found some value in Denmark’s trip to the Faroe Islands, Israel v Austria and Scotland’s clash with Moldova as well.

Elsewhere it’s the Croatians travelling to Slovakia in Group H with Luka Modric and Co topping their section on goal difference. So, with a magical mid-winter trip to the desert on the line, who’s edging closer to World Cup 2022 and who’s on the brink of elimination in Saturday’s 7.45pm internationals?

These picks in an acca-insured four fold will give you odds of around 20/1 with Paddy Power. CLICK HERE TO ADD IT TO YOUR BETSLIP.

Faroe Islands v Denmark – Denmark and Over 3.5 Goals

By all accounts Denmark should absolutely hammer the Faroe Islands here. The Danes are in great form. They come here off the back of an easy 2-0 win over Scotland on Wednesday and an emotional Euro 2020 campaign that saw them make it to the semi finals despite all the trauma connected with Christian Eriksen.

They hammered their hosts 4-0 in a friendly at home in October 2020 and, with them improving all the time, we can expect something similar or even bigger here. The visitors have scored 16 times in four games without conceding while the Faroes have shipped 12 in four. Denmark to Win and Over 3.5 Goals is the value here.

Israel v Austria – Over 2.5 Goals

Israel and Austria are both desperately trying to cling onto the coat-tails of the Danes and occupy 2nd and 3rd respectively in Group F. The hosts here have a +5 swing in the goal difference field while sharing the same number of points as their opponents.

And I think it’s going to be all about goals in the pitch. If history’s anything to go by this should be a cracker. Over these two’s last five meetings, a run going back to 1999, Over 2.5 Goals has landed four times. It happened twice when the pair met in Euro 2020 qualifying and Over 2.5 Goals is your smartest play in this one.

Scotland v Moldova – Under 2.5 Goals

However, the polar opposite is likely in Scotland’s clash with Moldova. These two both lost their first game since the resumption of the domestic season 2-0, Scotland to Denmark and Moldova to Austria. Both are in pretty poor form and neither will be giving anything away at Hampden Park.

The Scots have witnessed Under 2.5 Goals four times in their last five games while the Moldovan figure is three from five with a couple of hammerings against some much-bigger boys in there. Scotland are not going to be playing free flowing football and a win by any means is of the utmost importance. Under 2.5 Goals is your selection here.

Slovakia v Croatia – Croatia to Win

Croatia head to Slovakia knowing that a loss would see them deposed from the top of Group H. The Slovakians are one point behind Croatia in 3rd with Russia just off the visitors on goal difference.

While Croatia might not be the team they were of a few yeas ago, they hammered Slovakia home and away in their last two meetings ahead of Euro 2020 in 2019. With the Croats getting a much-needed point against Russia on Wednesday I think they’ll take another step towards qualification with a Croatia Win here.
