Carlisle will be out for some revenge here as they lost away to Hartlepool in the league atthe weekend. The Blues have only won one of their six matches this season, and they lost their League Cup match away to Sheffield United. Hartlepool have won three and lost one in the league, they also lost their League Cup match at home to Crewe Alexandra.
With the weekend’s fixture still fresh in the memory Carlisle should up their game here, but they have a big problem in front of goal. Over their last five competitive matches at home, they’ve only scored twice. In Hartlepool’s five most recent away competitive matches they’ve scored six, and thus far in the league have scored seven over four games. With the away side in the better goal-scoring form, we’re going to take them with some insurance.
19:00 Forest Green v Northampton: Forest Green To Win
Forest Green currently lead League Two with 12 points after five games, winning four and drawing one, scoring 13 and conceding eight in the process. They lost their League Cup game away to Brentford a week ago after shocking Bristol City on penalties in the previous round. Northampton have won two of their four League Two matches, drawing and losing one each. They also suffered defeat their second League Cup game, losing 0-1 at home to Wimbledon; they had seen off Coventry City away from home earlier in the month.
The sides have met three times since 2018, Forest Green winning one and Northampton winning the other two clashes. Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 goals landing in two of those three games too. Forest Green’s scoring record at home has seen them net 10 goals over their four games this season, while Northampton have only three strikes over their three away games so far this campaign. Forest Green have the superior form here and we’re backing the home team.
19:00 Oldham v Salford City: Under 2.5 Goals
We’ve got a Manchester derby to finish off our accumulator. Oldham have been awful so far this season, winning one of their five League Two matches, losing the other four. However, on the bright side, they’ve won both of their League Cup games on penalties. Salford aren’t exactly in the best of shape either though, they’ve won just one of their five League Two games, and lost their League Cup tie on penalties to Derby County.
Oldham have only scored three goals over their four home games this term, with Salford scoring four over their two away matches. Oldham have netted four over their five league games thus far, while Salford have also only scored five in the league. This isn’t going to be a classic, we’re looking at Under 2.5 Goals here.
