After Man United made a blistering start to the season on the opening weekend embarrassing Leeds 5-1 at Old Trafford, they subsequently turned in a below-par display on the south coast against Southampton. I’m sure I wasn’t the only one to get my punting fingers burned by that result at St Mary’s.

United will be out to get back to winning ways on Sunday with a trip to Wolves, who have lost both of their opening league matches this season – failing to register a goal in them. It’s not exactly inspiring stuff and, at the time of writing the visitors are odds-on, to win at Molineux.

However, Wolves had a very comfortable midweek win in the Carabao Cup against Nottm Forest, coasting to a 4-0 victory away from home. Manager Bruno Lage played a fairly decent starting 11 in that game, and the win should give them the confidence to kick-start their season.

The one area Wolves may think there is weakness is in the Utd midfield two – especially if it consists of Fred and Nemanja Matic. Portuguese pair Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves will likely come up against them and should fancy their chances of dominating that particular battle. In all other areas of the pitch the visitors are a far superior outfit, with their spending power allowing them to showcase some serious talent in attack and strength at the back too – with Raphael Varane in line to make his debut after joining from Real Madrid.

Both Teams To Score

This game has the potential to offer up plenty of goals as both attacks have strength in depth and serious talent in the forward areas. There’s not been a great record of entertaining high-scoring matches between these two in recent years but, with the new attacking talent out on the pitch (and lingering threat of Cristiano Ronaldo taking a place in the team after the international break), this trend may well be bucked.

Bruno Fernandes To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target

In his first two matches of the campaign, Bruno Fernandes has managed three shots on target and on shots on target, respectively. He will likely be one of the main dangers to the Wolves defensive line – and he’s worth backing to keep up his good record of testing the keeper here.

Joao Moutinho To Have An Anytime Assist

As stated above, the Wolves midfield will be key to this game, in particular, Joao Moutinho who notched up a serious number of assists in the Premier League last season. He was the highest placed non-‘big 6’ player on the charts with seven assists. He’s worth backing to open his account for this term on Sunday.

Nemanja Matic To Be Booked

Keeping on the midfield battle theme, Nemanja Matic had a poor game last weekend and could struggle against Wolves’ dynamic duo this time out too. He looked leggy and some way off the pace in the 1-1 draw at Southampton. If things don’t start going his way early, he could well end up in the referee’s notebook.
