Paddy Power ambassador, Liverpool legend and all-round good egg Phil Thompson has teamed up with the good folk at PPTV to preview the best of Saturday’s Premier League action with our football trader Brian McDonnell. And these two have gone to town.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

First up it’s Thommo’s beloved Liverpool hosting Burnley at 12.30pm before Everton travel to Leeds at 3pm. Last but not least it’s Brighton against Watford so let’s see what the lads fancy on Saturday in the top flight.

12.30pm: Liverpool v Burnley

Thommo: This is the one that started the rot for Liverpool last season, isn’t it? Burnley, they’re always a tough nut to crack. I’m hoping that Liverpool will have that in their mentality, that they were hurt, they were damaged, and I would think that after the start that Liverpool had against Norwich that they want to get off to a flyer again. I’m going for a comfortable Liverpool victory.

Saturday 12.30pm: Liverpool v Burnley
BT Sport 1

I’m being kind to Burnley and I’m going to go 2-0 to Liverpool. It’s a clean sheet again which paid dividends last week against Norwich. Mo Salah, I went with him last week and he came up trumps for me. I’m going again for Salah to Score Anytime.

Brian: Burnley obviously got a result last season at Anfield but I think if you look at the stats, Liverpool had nearly 30 shots on goal in that game. It was just one of those days for them. Having a full crowd back will be a big boost for Liverpool.

They were quite comfortable against Norwich last week. I think this result is going to be along the same lines. I’m going to agree with Phil here, I’m going to go with Liverpool to Win to Nil.

Rafa Benitez Everton

3pm: Leeds v Everton

Thommo: I think this is quite an intriguing match. Leeds, my goodness, getting an absolute tanking at Manchester United, 5-1. They still got battered 6-2 and had a good finish in the Premier League last season. It doesn’t seem to worry Leeds too much. I expect Both Teams to Score in this one, I really do.

I think it’s going to be quite tight, but I think Everton – they showed they were made of tough stuff last week. I do expect Everton to win – just. I’m going for Everton 2-1 Leeds.

If you want a goal scorer I’m going to go for the DCL, Dominic Calvert Lewis to Score Anytime for Everton. But, listen guys. Don’t be mentioning it too much, me mentioning Everton doing well!

Brian: Thommo must have been looking at my notes because I’m on the exact same lines. I’ve gone for a little Bet Builder in this one and it’s Everton to Win or Draw and Both Teams to Score in this one.

Leeds were quite poor last week, especially after they equalised against Manchester United. A couple of minutes later they were 3-1 down. I’m happy to side with Everton getting a result.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, we’ve got him at a nice price to score first. You won’t get him at a bigger price anywhere else this weekend so he’s the value pick. He scored last weekend and I think he can do it again this weekend. Calvert-Lewin to Score First.

Graham Potter

5.30pm: Brighton v Watford

Thommo: I’m a great admirer of Graham Potter’s side. I think Brighton have been a great team to watch though they don’t maybe score as many goals as they should. It was a fantastic start for them to win after being behind against Burnley. Shane Duffy’s back in that defence and had a man of the match performance for their last weekend.

Saturday 5.30pm: Brighton v Watford
Sky Sports Premier League

Watford, what a fantastic start. But it’s always hard, I said this last week, playing against the newly-promoted sides, you’ve got to be at it. Aston Villa weren’t and Watford came up trumps. I think this is going to be very, very tight.

It’s another game where I do see both teams scoring. I’m expecting Brighton to Win this one. Only just though, I’m going with 2-1 to Brighton.

Brian: I’m going with a Brighton Win as well. I thought they were very good against Burnley, especially after going behind. It was a typical Brighton performance that we’ve seen over the last couple of seasons where they play the better football, create lots of chances, but they haven’t been scoring the goals.

It was great for them last week that their two forwards, Neal Maupay and Alexis Mac Allister both got on the scoresheet. Watford had a great win last weekend but I think Brighton are a lot more organised under Graham Potter.

I think they can win here. I don’t think there’s going to be as many goals as Phil so I’m going to go with Brighton to Win and Under 3.5 Goals.
