Ding, ding. Round two. After a pulsating first set of fixtures in the EFL we’re back to do it all over again this Saturday and we’ve got a fascinating pair of games to get stuck into on our TV screens.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

First, it’s Peterborough v Derby at 12.30pm and then Sheffield United head to Swansea at 8pm. We’ve also got four suggestions for your acca this weekend with all three leagues covered.

You’re welcome.

12.30pm: Peterborough United v Derby County

Peterborough have not started well but crisis club Derby are unbeaten from their two games this term. The Posh have shipped seven goals in two games, losing 3-0 to Luton and then 4-0 to League One Plymouth in the EFL Cup during the week.

Saturday 12.30pm: Peterborough United v Derby County
Sky Sports Football

The Rams have drawn 1-1 with Huddersfield and 3-3 with League Two Salford in their two games. It all adds up to a a bit of a head-scratcher. Are Derby going to surprise people? Are Peterborough going to concede fewer than three goals?

Best Bet: Over 2.5 Goals

Despite everything we’ve seen so far, I’d be surprised if Derby win. Instead of going for a result, we’re best backing Over 2.5 Goals in this game. These two have witnessed 15 goals over their four games this season, an average of 3.75 goals per game.

Big-priced punt: Ravel Morrison to Score Last

Maybe it will finally click for the maverick midfielder Ravel Morrison. We all know about his unfulfilled potential and he’s arrived as one of Derby’s emergency signings this summer. He netted the final goal in the week and at a juicy price it might be worth taking a punt on Ravel Morrison to Score Last as his dancing feet make hay against tiring defenders.

8pm: Swansea City v Sheffield United

Both Swansea and Sheffield United suffered opening-day defeats before recording wins in the EFL Cup on Tuesday. Both lost by a solitary goal with Blackburn pipping The Swans 2-1 and Birmingham shocking the Blades 1-0.

8pm: Swansea City v Sheffield United
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football

I think these two are at a crossroads, with Swansea boss Steve Cooper walking away from his job over the summer and United set for a rude awakening in the second tier after two seasons in the top flight. They say there’s money to be made in a crisis, so let’s take a look.

Best Bet: Both Teams To Score? No

It says a lot about the mood around the Liberty Stadium that United are big favourites here. I think they’ll win but not with enough confidence to put them up as your best bet. Instead, I’ll side with Both Teams To Score? No. Both Teams To Score has only landed in one of these two’s four games this season and with United witnessing just two goals in their two games I’m hoping that form continues here.

Big-priced punt: Sheffield United & Under 1.5 Goals

This just feels like it’s going to be dominated by Sheffield United. In defeat and victory over their two games they’ve managed to retain a certain amount of control over the match. Swansea, on the other hand, have had wildly fluctuating fortunes. We’re taking a bit of punt on another 1-0 and I think The Blades are most likely to triumph if that happens so, at a bit of a price, Sheffield United & Under 1.5 Goals might be worth a go.

The below picks in a Paddy Power Acca will give you odds of around 24/1. CLICK HERE TO ADD IT TO YOUR BETSLIP.

Nottingham Forest v Bournemouth – Bournemouth to Win

Bournemouth picked up a credible 2-2 draw at home to my Championship title favourites West Brom in their curtain-raiser while Nottingham Forest lost to potential relegation candidates Coventry 2-1 last weekend. I was tempted to go for Fulham to beat Huddersfield but, at a bigger price, I’ll tip up Bournemouth to Win against the completely toothless Forest in the Championship.

Cheltenham v Wycombe – Wycombe to Win

Newly-promoted Cheltenham got their third-tier season off to a decent start with a 1-1 draw away at Crewe. Their opponents on Saturday, Wycombe, began life outside the Championship with a 2-1 win at home to Accrington. I think The Chairboys are a little too big here and will happily put up Wycombe to Win on Saturday.

MK Dons v Sunderland – Sunderland to Win

Sunderland dug out a hard-fought 2-1 win over fellow promotions contenders Wigan last weekend and they’ll fancy their chances against MK Dons this week, as do I. The Dons started with a 5-0 loss to Bournemouth in the EFL Cup before a 3-3 draw with newly-promoted Bolton. Sunderland should Win this fairly easily but there is the usual disclaimer that this is Sunderland we’re talking about.

Walsall v Forest Green – Forest Green to Win

Walsall opened their League Two campaign with a loss away at Tranmere which is by no means a shocking result. Forest Green kicked off with three points at home to newly-promoted Sutton and followed that up with a penalty shootout win over Bristol City in the EFL Cup. The price on an away victory here is way too good to resist so we’re backing the promotion hopefuls and a Forest Green Win.
