East London tackles west in a League Two vs Championship encounter in the EFL Cup in front of the TV cameras on Wednesday night. QPR are being fancied in some parts as potential playoff contenders in the second tier this season. They missed out by nine points last season and finished in 9th following some good end of season form.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Leyton Orient will be hoping to continue to build after a rocky few years and ended up in 11th in League Two last term. They’re probably not expected to do too much better than that this time around but another top half finish can be considered as progress. Both sides started with a draw in their respective divisions and this tournament will be some way down their list of priorities.

QPR to Win

That said, I think we can back QPR to Win here with some confidence. They’re a really good price and are starting to build some depth in certain areas. If they do rotate they should still have enough to win inside the 90.

Orient’s opening day stalemate was a good one for them, taking a point off of League Two title favourites Salford City away from home. QPR got a 1-1 draw with Millwall which is a decent-enough result for them as well. All things considered, we’re on the QPR Win.

Under 2.5 Goals

One thing that is clear from last season’s completed tables is that these two like to keep things tight. The O’s finished with a grand total of -2 goal difference while QPR amassed two more than they let in.

QPR averaged 2.66 goals per game last season while the hosts here’s figure was 2.34. Added together we’re getting exactly 2.5 Goals per game over their combined 92 league games last season. Unders has landed in both of their outings this season and, with the early-season unwanted cup competition vibes, I think we’re going to see a quite lethargic game with Under 2.5 Goals.

Albert Adomah to Score First

For a goal scorer in this game it might be worth looking at who didn’t feature for QPR at the weekend. Charlie Austin and Lyndon Dykes both started and, well, they’re pretty much the only two forwards at the club. Certainly ones that you could consider as senior, anyway.

I think we’re going to see Saturday’s unused substitute Albert Adomah feature prominently on Wednesday night and he could be the man to back to net. Normally a winger, there’s a chance he starts up top, given The R’s lack of depth in that department.

I expect Mark Warburton to wrap Austin and Dykes in cotton wool and it would be a surprise if one or both feature here. At a decent price, and a bit of a punt, Albert Adomah to Score First might be your best bet for a goal scorer in this game, assuming he starts.
