For Friday’s football Acca we’re taking a look at a few games from across Europe. Our first stop is in the Danish Superliga where Midtjylland can take an early lead in the league with a win, then we’re off to Belgium for the Brugge derby.

Bournemouth play West Brom in this season’s Championship opener, while Dynamo Dresden host Paderborn in the German Cup and finally, to Portugal, where league champions Sporting Lisbon start their season against newly-promoted Vizela. Let’s have a gander then at where we’ve uncovered some value.

19:30 Midtjylland v Vejle: Midtjylland To Win & Over 1.5 Goals

While they’re only three games into the league season, Midtjylland have already played six games in total, thanks to their Champions League exploits. Over those six matches they’ve won two, drawn two (winning one in extra time) and lost two. In their three league matches Vejle have lost two. The sides have met four times since 2018 with Midtjylland winning all four encounters – scoring a total of 15 goals to just one from Vejle.

Because of that record – as well as Vejle’s less-than-perfect start to the league season – the home side are obviously favourites here. Vejle’s scoring record isn’t good in this fixture either, but Midtjylland haven’t got a great record of clean sheets of late, so they may well hit the target. The home side should win here though, and we reckon we’re looking at a 2-0, 2-1 kind of scoreline.

19:45 Club Brugge v Cercle Brugge: Club Brugge to Win & Over 2.5 Goals

Both Brugge clubs have begun with a win and a draw, but this fixture has been a very one-sided affair over the last few seasons. The clubs have met four times at the Jan Breydel Stadion since 2015 with the home side winning all four. Indeed, Cercle haven’t beaten their city rivals away from home in the league since 2010. Over the four games mentioned, Both Teams to Score landed in three, while Over 2.5 Goals landed in all four.

Looking at Club’s five most recent home competitive fixtures, Overs and Both Teams to Score has landed in all five, while Cerle have only scored one over their five most recent away competitive matches though. However, this being a derby, it must be mentioned that six of the last eight games between the clubs in all competitions have seen both Overs and Both Teams to Score landing. Armed with those stats, we’re backing the home side to win and the Overs here.

19:45 Bournemouth v West Brom: Both Teams to Score

Bournemouth began their campaign with a 5-0 thrashing of MK Dons in the League Cup last weekend. Around the same time West Brom put four past Birmingham City, albeit in a friendly. The teams have met four times in recent years at the Vitality Stadium, with the Cherries winning three of those four. Both Teams to Score landed in three of those matches, Overs in two.

Bournemouth ended last season with just two clean sheets over their last six Championship games, while West Brom scored in four of their last six in the Premier League. The home side should edge it here, but with it being so early in the season we prefer to err on the side of caution.

19:45 Dynamo Dresden vs Paderborn: Dynamo Dresden To Win

Both teams are two games into their Bundesliga II season, Dresden have won one and drawn one, while Paderborn have drawn both of their games. The teams have only met twice since 2018, with both winning a match apiece.

Dresden finished their Bundesliga III title-winning season in mighty home form, winning all five of their most recent home competitive games. Meanwhile, Paderborn have only won one of their last five competitive matches on the road. There’s a great deal of excitement about this Dynamo side coming back in the Bundesliga II and in facing a side who have had a very lacklustre last few months they should have enough to come out on top.

20:15 Sporting v Vizela: Both Teams to Score

Sporting begin their title defence at home to newly-promoted Vizela. They’re massive favourites to win here and you’re not going to find many giving Vizela much of a chance. Much was made of Sporting’s defence last season, where they only conceded 10 goals over their 17 home league matches. Vizela though, as runners up in the Segunda Liga, are a decent outfit and they only managed to lose four games over their 34 in the league last season, scoring 59 goals in total, the highest in the league.

We have to make a case for Both Teams to Score here. Sporting’s defence were great last season, but over their last seven at home they conceded in four of them. Vizela have nothing to lose here and their away record last term saw them scoring 30 over 17 games.

Friday tips summary:

19:45 Bournemouth v West Brom: Both Teams to Score
19:45 Dynamo Dresden vs Paderborn: Dynamo Dresden To Win
