18:00: Malmo v Rangers – Both Teams to Score

Malmo are just about hitting the middle point of their domestic season. They are 13 games into the Allsvenskan, sitting in second position on 29 points after losing just two games so far this season. Rangers opened their title defence in the Scottish Premiership over the weekend, beating Livingston 3-0, and while they beat a makeshift Real Madrid side 2-1 over their preseason friendlies they’ve only played one competitive match since the middle of May. Malmo have played 13 in the league and four in the Champions League.

Malmo are very strong at home, losing just one of their last 10 competitive matches at the Eleda Stadion. However, they don’t keep many clean sheets, with only one over those 10 games. Rangers have scored at least one away goal in all 26 of their most previous away games, excluding friendlies. Both Teams to Score gets us off to a start here.

18:00: Sparta Prague v Monaco – BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals

Monaco are yet to kick a competitive ball this season while Sparta have played two in the Czech league and two in the Champions League, winning three and losing one of their four games so far. The French side are heavy favourites to win the first leg here but Sparta are decent at home and those four additional competitive games should make a difference here.

Sparta have scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine on home soil and Over 2.5 goals was seen in all eight of them too. Monaco will be all too aware of the threat Sparta pose and while away goals don’t count anymore they’re not going to want to come out of the first leg without finding the net. Overs landed in three of their four pre-season friendlies and with the talent in their squad it’s hard to see them not getting a couple here. BTTS and Overs holds pretty decent value at the current odds.

19:00: Genk v Shakhtar Donetsk – Shakhtar to Win

Both Genk and Shakhtar have played two games each in their domestic leagues. Genk have drawn and lost one each while the Ukrainian side have won both of their games. Its hard not to imagine Shakhtar’s experience at this level shining through – this is a side that beat Real Madrid twice last season, held Inter to two draws and in the previous season drew with Man City and Lyon and beat Atalanta. They’re all sides who are a fair bit better than a Genk side who finished fourth in Belgium’s Jupiler League last season.

Genk’s last appearance in the Champions League Group Stage was in 2019 when they lost five of their six games, drawing the other one. Shakhtar’s experience and quality in the squad should see them breeze this so we’re backing them to win.

19:00: PSV v Midtjylland – PSV to Win and BTTS

PSV made an absolute show of Galatasaray in the previous round beating them 7-2 on aggregate while Midtjylland needed extra time to put Celtic out of the competition. PSV’s domestic season is yet to start while the Danish side have now played three in the league and two in the Champions League.

Midtjylland are massive underdogs and the gulf in quality between the Dutch Eredivisie and the Danish SuperLiga should become pretty evident as the game unfolds, but the away side should still pose a threat.

They’ve scored at least one goal in eight of their last 10 away games in all competitions and PSV have only kept three clean sheets over their last 10 competitive games at home. Midtjylland’s match sharpness and goal-scoring form should see them getting one but PSV are by far the stronger side. We’re looking at PSV to Win and BTTS here.
