The Russian Premier League and Germany’s Bundesliga II return this weekend and we’re taking a look at the biggest games from the first round of fixtures. We’ll also be taking swing by Denmark where Celtic’s Champions League opponents Midtjylland are in action and then to the MLS where Columbus Crew will be facing an Atlanta United side who have only won two games all season. Let’s dig into the stats then and find some value in the markets.

5pm: AaB vs Midtjylland: Midtjylland to Win

AaB began their season with a 2-2 away draw with Copenhagen and were able to rescue a point from a losing position in the closing stages of the game. Midtjylland were surprisingly beaten at home in their league opener thanks to a 90th minute goal but they certainly hit the headlines when they kept Celtic to a draw on Tuesday last. They’re a decent side though and while the markets may favour Celtic they’re certainly good enough to come out on top.

Back to this match and Midtjylland have won four of their last six meetings away to AaB, drawing and losing one. Of AaB’s last seven home league games they scored in all but one, Midtjylland scored in seven of their last 10 on the road in the league so Both Teams to Score looks like a good shout if that floats your boat. The odds are usually pretty low in the Danish Superliga for BTTS though but with the visitors having such a good record here we’re going with Midtjylland to Win.

6pm: Rubin Kazan vs Spartak Moscow: Spartak to Win and BTTS

It’s been eight home games now since Rubin Kazan were able to beat Spartak at home, excluding friendlies. Spartak finished second last season with Kazan finishing in fourth and, with Zenit having won the league by eight points, both are going to have to do better this season.

Kazan finished their season in decent home form, winning two, drawing one and losing two while Spartak won three, drew one and lost one, BTTS and Overs was seen in four of their games. They didn’t land as often in Kazan’s games but they scored at least one in eight of their last 10 at home. Spartak absolutely destroyed three Russian teams and one Croatian team over their preseason friendlies, scoring 17 goals to three and, with Kazan having an awful home record against the Moscow side, we’re going with the value odds here for Spartak to Win and BTTS.

Hannover 96

7.30pm: Werder Bremen vs Hannover: BTTS No Draw

Werder begin their Bundesliga II campaign after being relegated last season against Hannover. Normally friendly games can’t be relied upon as teams tend to play games that won’t test them much but Werder took on Feyenoord twice as well as Russia’s Zenit, they didn’t win any, drawing two and losing one but it will have been good preparation nonetheless.

Werder were pretty hopeless at home last season but they were, at least, scoring goals. Of their last seven home league games they scored in five. Hannover are a tricky side, they scored 19 goals over their last 10 away league games, winning just four of those fixtures. Both Teams certainly have the firepower to get at least one each but we can’t see this ending level. BTTS No Draw is the pick here.

8pm: Atlanta United vs Columbus Crew: Columbus Crew and Draw

Atlanta have had a pretty underwhelming season so far. After their 14 games played they’ve only won twice, drawing eight and losing four. Columbus Crew have won five, drawn six and lost just three. The Crew have a decent record here too, winning three of their last five matches in all competitions, drawing one and losing one.

Atlanta’s recent home record has seen them drawing three of their last four and losing the other one. Match this with Columbus Crew’s recent away record at the Benz and we’re going to go with the Double Chance on the away side here.
