Football’s either coming home or going to Rome as England take on Italy at Wembley in the Euro 2020 final on Sunday night at 8pm. Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions have reached their first ever Euros final while Italy are looking to make up for losing their last two.

England to lift the Cup

No doubt the Italians will prove a stern test and I quite could quite honestly see this going to extra-time, as both semi finals did. However, being spurred on by a partisan home crowd, and given the exceptional subs that Southgate has at his disposal, I fancy the Three Lions to get the job done and finally end the 55 years of hurt as England Lift The Cup.

Harry Kane to Score Anytime

With four goals in his last three games going in to the final, Harry Kane has hit peak form just at the right time. He also has had seven shots on target across the past three games which tells you that after a slow start to the tournament he is back to his best.

He looked lost during the group stages but you can never put Kane down for too long who, despite his critics, is without doubt one of the best strikers in world football. He needs just one more goal to be in with a shout of winning the golden boot and, given his love for goals and the big stage, I fancy Kane to Score Anytime on Sunday.

Over 4.5 cards

This is the biggest game of many of the players’ careers, particularly on the English side as none have ever experienced reaching the final of the major tournament for their country. In front of a passionate and fiery Wembley crowd I could quite easily see this game being tipped over the edge and being full of cards as players struggle to keep their emotions intact.

With the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Giorgio Chiellini, Harry Maguire and Marco Verratti (who all feature highly on the cheat sheet) all tipped to start too, there is no shortage of players who are prone to picking up cards either. Big games tend to produce cards, for instance the 2016 final between France and Portugal saw 10 cards. Over 4.5 Cards should be a shoe-in here.

Marco Verratti to be Booked

Italian midfielder Marco Verratti is a winner, no doubt about it. He will do absolutely anything within his powers to ensure his beloved Italy get the job done here and, given it is the final against the attacking quality that England possess, I struggle to see him escaping punishment.

He has attempted the most tackles of any player at this summer’s tournament (21) as well as committing a hefty 1.97 fouls per game. He is renowned for having a short fuse and with over 120 yellow cards in his career to date, despite being just 28, Verratti is the prime candidate for a yellow card in this one.
