The big clashes just keep on coming at Euro 2020 as Croatia and Spain clash at the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on Monday afternoon. Spain will always be mentioned these days as one of the favourites to win a major competition before they kick-off.

But, after having their pre-tournament preparations torn to shreds due to Covid-19 issues in their camp, the Spaniards only really looked to have finally got going in their final group game as they battered Slovakia 5-0 in Seville to confirm their progression into the last 16.

For their part, Croatia were also slow starter in the competition, as they sat on only one point in Group D after two games against England and the Czech Republic respectively. Just like Spain though, they got their stuttering motor firing in their last match, and they rose to the occasion to beat Scotland 3-1 at Hampden Park.

But, you’re here to read up on some punts and we’ve poured over the insightful information on Andy Robson’s cheat sheet to bring you a fantastic foursome of plays.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Nikola Vlasic To Have 1 Or More Shots On Target

The former Everton man may have been worrying about his starting spot, even though he did score against Scotland (boo) but the news that Ivan Perisic has caught Covid-19 means Nikola Vlasic is all but nailed on to start for his country against Spain. He’s their most consistent shot taker and averages 0.98 SOT per 90, the best of anyone likely to feature for Croatia tonight and I can see him causing havoc against a Spain defence yet to face any sort of real test.

Alvaro Morata To Have 2 Or More Shots On Target

Alvaro Morata has come under a lot of criticism at Euro 2020 and rightly so, he should really have more than the one goal he’s scored at the tournament with the chances he’s had. But, Morata is a regular hitter of the target, if very little else. He’s averaging 1.75 SOTs per 90, which is a very strong record and one that we expect him to improve against Croatia – even if he doesn’t add to his rather paltry goal tally.

Mateo Kovacic To Have 1 Or More Shots

Kovacic is another Croat that has caught the eye and it seems to suit him having more freedom for his country than club side, in a similar fashion to Perisic. With Marcelo Brozovic and Luka Modric likely to be alongside him, he is given a bit more licence to join in with the attacks and does have just about a shot per 90 for his national team.

Duje Caleta-Car To Be Booked

The big clumsy Marseille defender will find himself back in the starting XI, deputising for the suspended Dejan Lovren. It will be his first start since the England game in the opening weekend of the tournament and boy does Caleta-Car enjoy a card. He amassed eight in just 33 Ligue 1 games last season and picks up yellows, just as he did against the English, for his country even more frequently.

Croatia v Spain tips summary:
