For Thursday night’s football we’ll be taking a look at Group A in the Copa America where Bolivia take on Uruguay and Chile entertain Paraguay. Bolivia and Uruguay are rooted to the bottom of Group A and obviously both need the win here.

Chile have already qualified for the next round but a strong finish will ensure an easier draw in the next round so they’ll be after the win. Paraguay should they win would also qualify so they’re going to put up a fight. Let’s get into the stats then and find some value in the betting markets.

Neither side here are coming into this match in the best of shape. Bolivia have won just one of their last five games, drawing one and losing three. Their five previous games saw them losing four and drawing one. Uruguay too haven’t exactly been setting the world alight. Of their last five fixtures they drew three and lost two. Of their five matches prior though, they had won three, drawn one and lost one.

The teams haven’t met much over the last few years, just two times over the last 10 with each side winning one match each. Uruguay are massive favourites here, largely thanks to having a team full of stars of European football while most of Bolivia’s players ply their trade either in the Bolivian league with a few peppered over the Argentine and Brazilian leagues.

The gulf in quality should shine through here but Bolivia can still cause a threat and have scored at least one in nine of their last 11 matches and face an Uruguay side who have kept just three clean sheets over their last 11 games. Both Teams to Score looks like a good shout with those stats but Uruguay have, by far, the better squad here and should have more than enough to emerge victorious after the ninety minutes.

Friday 01:00: Chile v Paraguay – Both Teams to Score

Chile have already qualified for the next round of the competition but a win here would put them above Argentina, until their game against Bolivia next week at least. Paraguay currently sit in third place after one win and one draw so far and a win would also see them cement their place in the next round. A draw might be good enough depending on how other results go over the coming days.

Chile are unbeaten over their last six matches but they won just two of those games, drawing all of the other four, scoring a total of seven goals, conceding five. Paraguay have won just one of their last five, drawing two and losing two but in their five matches prior to those won two and drew three.

The sides have met eight times over the last 10 seasons, Chile have won four, Paraguay three and only one ended level. Tempting to go with BTTS No Draw here with a record like that but over their last 10 combined matches there have been six draws so best to leave that alone.

Chile have only kept two clean sheets over their last 10 fixtures, Paraguay have done a bit better, keeping four clean sheets over their last 10 matches. Chile though have scored at least one in 13 of their last 15 matches so our pick is Both Teams to Score here.

Thursday’s Copa America betting tips:

22:00: Bolivia v Uruguay – Uruguay to Win & BTTS
Friday 01:00: Chile v Paraguay – Both Teams to Score

* Both of these picks in a double will give you odds of around 6/1 with Paddy Power.
