Scotland play in a major tournament for the first time since the 1998 World Cup in France when they tackle Czech Republic on home soil at Hampden Park this afternoon.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Monday 14:00 – Scotland v Czech Republic
BBC/ RTE

With the game right on the horizon, we’ve taken a look at a cheat sheet for the game from our pal Andy Robson and whipped together a belting Bet Builder.

Che Adams 1+ shot on target

Che Adams will lead the line for Scotland. His stats are fairly skewed as he has only played four matches for the national team, one of those off the bench. He does, however, average just over one shot on target per 90 for the dark blues.

He managed one on target in the most recent qualifier at home to Faroe Islands and one shot on target away to Israel. There’s no doubt he’s Scotland’s best chance of a goal against the Czechs, I expect him to record at least one shot on target and hopefully a goal or two!

Scott McTominay 1+ shot

I expect Scott McTominay to play on the right side of a three in midfield for Scotland. He doesn’t rank on the cheat sheets for shots on target but his general shots stats are incredible. In the EURO 2020 qualifiers he averaged 1.50 shots per 90 minutes and so far in the World Cup qualifiers he averages 1.67 shots per 90.

He likes to get forward, he’s occasionally on free-kicks and there’s a good chance he’ll play full 90.

Tomas Soucek to be booked

Tomas Soucek will be a well-known name to most reading this. The West Ham midfielder plays as a left-sided defensive midfielder for Czech Republic and scores 2nd for average fouls per game and averages 0.29 yellow cards per game.

He’ll have a tough afternoon up against John McGinn and McTominay, both of whom rank high for fouls drawn per 90 – McGinn with 2.28 and McTominay with 1.22.

Patrik Schick 1+ shot on target

Bayer Leverkusen’s Schick will be one the major attacking threats for the Czechs. He averages 3.78 shots per game for the national side, with just under half (1.73) being on target.
