Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson is back to run the rule over Sunday’s big games in the Premier League. Champions League spots are still up for grabs and we’ll find out which two from Chelsea, Leicester and Liverpool will make it into the top four on the final day.
Chelsea head to Aston Villa while Leicester host Tottenham and Liverpool play Crystal Palace at Anfield. All games kick off at 4pm and Thommo’s got a tasty treble to keep you screen hopping until the final kick of the season.
Thommo’s Sunday treble
Chelsea had a great win against Leicester which certainly helped Liverpool out, but they lost against Arsenal. They’ve got the Champions League final to look at. They need Timo Werner to score goals but he’s only got four in 38 games for Chelsea which is really worrying.
But at the other end they’ve only conceded 34 with 18 clean sheets. This has been a good season for Chelsea but they still need something. If this was to go pear shaped, Leicester and Liverpool could both leapfrog them.
So they’ve got to turn up and perform. That’s why I do think Chelsea will beat Aston Villa. It’s been a good season for Villa and Ollie Watkins with 14 goals in 36 games. What a debut season it has been for him.
NEW TO PADDY POWER?
I do think Leicester will beat Spurs. This is a big, big game. Leicester are desperate for this. They’ve got 66 points. Like Liverpool, they’ve got to win the game to have any chance and I’m going to go for Leicester to Win. They’ve shown they are better away and they’ve dropped out of the top four now but I do expect them to win this – but only just.
The win over Liverpool was fantastic because goal difference might come into play and Liverpool winning 3-0 gives them a four-goal lead over Leicester which could help them. They’re unbeaten in nine now, Liverpool, which is wonderful.
They’ve won four Premier League games on the trot and that’s the first time they’ve done that this season which is quite something. Palace lost against Arsenal, unluckily I would say because it certainly wasn’t a 3-1 game. Arsenal got out of jail with that. Palace are the oldest team in the Premier League and hopefully they do run out of steam but it’s Roy Hodgson’s last game and Christian Benteke’s coming back to Anfield. But I think Liverpool will Win this game.
THOMMO’S TREBLE: I’m going to go for Chelsea to win at Villa, Leicester to beat Spurs and the mighty Liverpool to beat Palace.
