Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson remains the first name on our teamsheet for another round of midweek fixtures as we approach the end of the Premier League season. The Liverpool legend never needs to be rested or rotated and he’s back to give you some pointers for Wednesday’s late games at 8.15pm.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

It’s European places on the agenda as West Ham travel to face the already-relegated West Brom and Liverpool take on Burnley. The Hammers’ dreams of Champions League football are realistically over but they can still make it into the Europa League while Liverpool’s hopes of a top four spot were revived in sensational style by keeper Alisson Becker’s amazing last-minute winner at the weekend. So, here’s Thommo’s tips.

West Brom v West Ham

Well this is massive, isn’t it, for West Ham. It’s been such a good season for David Moyes and his boys. But you’re just thinking, are the wheels coming off at the end? This is desperate. They’ll be looking at West Brom and thinking, ‘Yep, that should be three points for us’.

But it’s just rattling a little bit with West Ham at the moment. They drew with Brighton after going 1-0 down in the 84th minute. Now they’ve lost three of the last five in the Premier League, but they’ve won eight away games in the league this season which is absolutely unbelievable for them.

Watch out for headed goals in this one. We saw Alisson, what he did against West Brom, well West Ham have scored the most headed goals in the Premier League, 13 as it stands. That will be an area for them.

Sky Sports Premier League

What are West Brom going to do? Which West Brom is going to turn up? Good West Brom turned up against Liverpool earlier this season –  yes they didn’t have a lot of possession but they know that. Play to their strengths, says Sam Allardyce.

But they’re without a win in five Premier League games and they’ve got the worst defence. 70 goals they’ve conceded. So, West Ham will be thinking, ‘We need to take advantage of that.’ But they’ve lost just two of their last eight at home, have West Brom.

THOMMO’S TIPS: For this one, I’m going for West Ham to Win. I can’t see West Brom scoring, I’m going to go 2-0 to West Ham and Michail Antonio to Score at Anytime. I think he will be there to cause West Brom all sorts of problems.

Burnley v Liverpool

Hopefully Liverpool don’t need a last-minute-goalkeeper-scoring scenario here. Liverpool, once again, showed their venerability against West Brom. Not so much at the back but up front because with the amount of chances they’re getting they should be scoring more goals.

This team now, slowly, grinding out results. That’s eight games unbeaten now for Liverpool in the Premier League, winning the last three. They’re unbeaten in six away, winning five of those. Liverpool’s away form is probably better than it’s been at Anfield.

As we’ve seen with the West Brom game going right to the very end, and the emotional interview from Alisson saying the players have been hurting and things just seem to be going wrong for everybody, they’re in it as much as what the fans are. They want this.

But what the heck happened to the Burnley that we know and love? They got battered 4-0 last week against Leeds United. You just go, ‘Wow! What’s happened?’ They’ve won two of the last four Premier League games. They’re without a home win in nine, losing their last three.

It’s not the home form that they would like. As we were saying about West Brom before it’s not been good but I do, maybe, fancy them to get one goal. This is going to be interesting.

THOMMO’S TIPS: I’m going to go with Thommo’s favourite score line, 3-1 to Liverpool, and I’m going to go for Mo Salah to Score Anytime. He wants this golden boot and he’s just gone level pegging with Harry Kane at the moment. I think he’ll be fancying his chances.

For Burnley, it’s Chris Wood to Score Anytime. I’m going for him because I just think Burnley play a little bit like West Brom do, launching it into the box, that did cause Liverpool a few problems and I do see Burnley getting a goal.

Thommo’s Tips

West Brom v West Ham
West Ham to Win 2-0
Michail Antonio to Score Anytime

Burnley v Liverpool
Liverpool to win 3-1
Both Teams to Score
Mo Salah to Score Anytime
Chris Wood to Score Anytime
