Brighton’s final home Premier League match of the season is on Tuesday night against champions Manchester City. There were probably quite a few fans of the Seagulls who were looking at that match over the last few months thinking it might be the one to doom them to the Championship.

New to Paddy Power?

Thankfully for Brighton fans there have been three worse teams than them this season and they live to fight another top-flight season. Their opponents Man City have won 33 of their last 37 matches in all competitions – and they’ll probably waltz this one too.

Man City to Win to Nil

Over their four most recent meetings City have put a total of 14 goals past Brighton. The Seagulls responded with one over those four games. If we look further back to their most recent eight meetings since Brighton were promoted to the big time, including one FA Cup match, City have won all eight, scoring 22. Brighton have scored two.

Brighton have scored a total of eight over their eight most recent PL games, which looks like an average of a goal per game however, they actually only scored in five of those eight matches. Of their last nine at home, they’ve scored a total of nine but only scored in five of those matches.

City have kept five clean sheets over their last nine away Premier League matches and even though they’ve conceded eight over their last five home/away games, that impressive record of keeping Brighton scoreless just cannot be ignored.

There’s no pressure on Brighton anymore, they can’t finish any lower in the league but City have to remain in good form for their upcoming Champions League clash. City to Win to Nil is the first pick to make the list here.

Pep Guardiola Manchester City

Man City HT/FT

Man City have been leading at half-time in nine of their 18 away PL matches this season and have scored a total of 20 first half goals, the highest record in the league, over those matches. They’ve only conceded six. Of the eight matches mentioned above played at home and away against each other, City have been leading at half-time in seven of them. In Brighton’s defence, they’ve only conceded seven first-half goals over their 18 home games this season and have only been losing at the break in three of them.

However, we’re talking about keeping Man City scoreless here, not Everton, Newcastle, Aston Villa or Fulham, to mention just a few of their recent home opponents. City have more than enough firepower to take the three points and it’s hard not to see them winning the HT/FT market with their away stats this season and their performance against Brighton over the last few seasons.

Ferran Torres to Score Anytime

At the time of writing we know that Kevin de Bruyne will miss this match and the City backroom staff are going to be working all the hours given to have him back for the upcoming Champions League final. Sergio Aguero is also rumoured to be out but this has yet to be confirmed. Manager Pep Guardiola is likely to stick with Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Ferran Torres upfront and Torres has the form of late to grab another one here.

He was excellent against Newcastle last Friday scoring a vital hat trick to extend City’s unbeaten away tally to 12 league games, breaking the old record, and they should extend it here by another one. Raheem Sterling is another option. He has a decent record against Brighton over the years, scoring four over his seven matches against them.
