As we enter the penultimate weekend of the Serie A things are getting very tight in the chase for the European places for next season. Saturday evening sees former champions Juventus taking on Inter in the Derby D’Italia with a good bit of added salt.

Inter have taken a Serie A title that Juventus will feel they lost this season, the many, many years of bitter rivalry between the sides and, of course, Inter can help keep Juve out of the Champions League should they win.

We’ll also be looking at the Derby della Capitale where Roma face Lazio. The visitors (to their own stadium) still grab a Champions League place so there’s plenty a stake as well as a healthy dollop of local pride. Let’s find some value.

Antonio Conte Inter Milan Benevento Serie A September 30, 2020

Saturday 17:00: Juventus v Inter Milan – Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals

Juventus v Inter Milan
Premier Sports 2

Juventus have won three of their last five Serie A matches, drawing and losing one apiece. However, that 0-3 home defeat to AC Milan last weekend still lingers and even though they beat Sassuolo 1-3 away from home midweek it really showed why Juve haven’t been able to challenge for the league title this season. They’ve been a team of individuals rather than an individual team.

It’s not all gloom and doom though, they’re still fifth in the table and just a point off the Champions League places and their home record in the league has seen them winning seven of their last nine. We don’t really need to go into just how big this match is for the fans of both sides, you already know the importance of the bragging rights here for both teams.

Juve will be desperate to get one over their most fiercest of rivals to send a clear message of ‘you’re just getting a loan of that trophy’ while Inter will be out to stamp their authority over the Old Lady who have dominated Italian football for far too long of late.

Inter have won four of their last five in the league, they’re undefeated over their last 10 away Serie A games, of their last five they’ve won three and drawn two. Inter haven’t won any of their last five visits to the Juventus Stadium, indeed, they’ve not even scored against Juventus in any of their last seven visits there as the away team.

We expect this to change this season, Juve have conceded seven over their last five league matches and seven over their last five at home too. Add to this the fact that Inter are averaging 1.89 goals per match on their league travels and we should finally see an Inter goal here. Juve must win here to get back into the Champions League reckoning and there’s no way the newly-crowned champions Inter are going to want to allow that to happen. We’re going with goals here; Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals.

Edin Dzeko Roma Benevento Serie A October 18, 2020

Saturday 19:45: Roma v Lazio – Draw

Roma v Lazio
Premier Sports 2

Roma are home underdogs in the Rome Derby for the first time in donkey’s years. They’ve lost three of their last five in all competitions, winning the other two. Their home league form isn’t too bad though, they’ve won three of their last five, drawing and losing one each. They’re currently out of the European football places and even should they win all their remaining games they still won’t qualify.

For Lazio, having a game in hand over Juventus above them, it’s a different story. Should Juve and Napoli slip up over their remaining games they can still make it back to the Champions League next season.

Lazio have won three of their last five in the league, losing the other two but away from home their form isn’t great where they’ve won two and lost three of their last five away Serie A matches. Lazio have only beaten Roma in two of their last 10 meetings as the away side, five ended in Roma’s favour with three ended level.

What’s at stake here is clear; Lazio must win while Roma must stop them and Roma’s decent home form compared to Lazio’s patchy away form means we can’t give Lazio the nod here. There’s so little between the sides here that going with the Draw is our best option.
