Paris Saint-Germain, also known as the moral compass of top-tier football in Europe, are one tie away from consecutive Champions League finals. Not bad for a side who perennially fail, is it? By my book, if you go to Munich and progress past Bayern in the Champions League, you’re worthy winners.

The Parisians are putting cliché to bed, but they’ll find themselves coming up against one of Europe’s biggest underachievers in the last decade – and if Pep can finally get the monkey off both of him and his football club’s backs, it’d be an even bigger story.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

City’s defeat of Spurs probably isn’t worth a whole lot on paper; not to mention the fact that they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Chelsea, defeated by Leeds in their second-to-last league game and barely hung on against Villa during the week.

I’m sure Pep will say with the league wrapped up, the focus is fully on this competition – and if that’s truthful, then PSG might be right up against it. But as PSG still rely on the world’s best player to produce in big moments, you have to wonder who City can rely on in the same spot? This is new territory – do they have the match-winners PSG possess? Here’s a Bet Builder to make a few quid from the clash of the super clubs.

Paris Saint-Germain to Win

I find it hard to understand the prices. Not only are PSG at home, they’re coming off the back of getting rid of the favourites for the entire competition in some style, too.

BT Sport 2 and BT Sport Ultimate

Maybe it’s snobbery. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re making incredibly hard work of domestic issues or perhaps even that Man City are perceived as the best club in Europe – but I can’t get away from PSG to Win, particularly in this first leg.

City will try and score – that much is clear. But PSG, much like the Poch teams in England, are actually better without the ball than when they’re being forced to play. This game should set up for them.

Kylian Mbappe to Score Two or More

Look through the Man City squad and tell me which of them you’d absolutely back to score a goal in this tie. If you’ve landed on one with confidence, you’re an eejit or you’re lying to yourself.

Mbappe, however, is the polar opposite. Bayern have one of the most agile back fours on the continent and they still couldn’t live with the Frechman. The reason for that is because he’s now, without question, the best player in the world.

This is a competition for big names. And there are now none bigger than him. I’m backing Mbappe to Score 2 or More Goals here.

Over 2.5 Goals

I mean, you know yourself. You don’t exactly want to be the person sat in all excited on a Wednesday night for what should be an amazing clash – only to be sweating on an unders poke, do you?

And it’s not the smart money anyway as I suspect both of these will want to grab the advantage from the first leg before they go back to Eastlands. It has to be Over 2.5 Goals, doesn’t it?

Both Teams to Score

Partly because of the sheer amount of chances I anticipate, but also because City just find a way. The only side to keep them scoreless in the Premier League since December are *checks notes* Manchester United. I’ll round off our Bet Builder with Both Teams to Score on Wednesday night.
