Wolves and Burnley have both had strange old seasons. The Clarets made a slow start to the season and yet they’re still relatively sure of their Premier League status next season.

Wolves themselves went eight games without a win around the turn of the year are comfortably mid-table but they’ve clearly struggled in the absence of their talisman Raul Jimenez. They’ve won the last two but those victories were against relegated Sheffield United and Fulham who are surely soon to follow.

NEW TO PADDY POWER?

You might be surprised to hear that Burnley trail Wolves by just eight points and if they were to win on Sunday they could potentially jump up to 14th. As it is they’re 17th, six points clear of The Cottagers who occupy the final relegation zone.

Burnley have now lost three on the bounce and have just one win in the last nine games. So, with the scene set, here’s your three best bets for Wolves v Burnley on Sunday.

Wolves to Win

Given the form of both of these sides this game looks to be a home banker. I’m a little surprised we’re getting odds as good as this for the Wolves Win but in reality Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have nothing to play for. You can expect Burnley, on the other hand, to be fired up as they look to eke out every point as they fight for survival.

But Burnley are not in a good place. They’re shipping loads of goals – more on that later – and have won just once since Valentine’s Day. The hosts have hit a bit of a groove with back to back wins. Confidence will be high and with the pressure off I’m expecting a Wolves Win here.

Over 2.5 Goals

Burnley’s historic success was built on keeping it tight and winning the odd game with a set-piece or through pure nous. That is just history now, though, as the goals have been flying in all over the shop in the last month or so.

In their last five games there have been 17 goals at an average of 3.4 per game. Wolves have been much more frugal with just eight over their last five, an average of just 1.6.

Those two numbers combined have us slap-bang on 2.5. Wolves ground out successive 1-0 wins against the Premier League’s two worst sides in front of goal in their last two outings. Burnley are third-worst but they’ve woken up a bit and I have a feeling we could pass the Over 2.5 Goals mark quite easily here.

Willian Jose to Score Anytime

Willian Jose finally got off the mark last time out, netting the only goal of the game in the win that finally relegated Sheffield United. It’s taken some time but Jose looks a handy player and I have a feeling he’ll get a couple more before the end of the season.

He’ll have few better opportunities than here against a Burnley side leaking goals. He’s almost guaranteed to start and if he does we should get at least one golden opportunity for Jose to Score Anytime here.
