Not even a week on from the sacking of Jose Mourinho, new Tottenham boss Ryan ‘The Temp’ Mason can become Tottenham’s most decorated manager of the last 15 years with a cup final win against Manchester City. Unfortunately for Ryan, and Tottenham fans, they’re coming up against Manchester City side who have won this trophy in each of the last three seasons and in five of the last seven.
Man City to win
The quadruple dream ended for City at Wembley last week with a narrow defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals, and if anything, I would suggest that was bad news for Tottenham. Pep Guardiola is a serial winner and that defeat will have hurt him.
He wanted a historic quadruple. He will have let the players know his frustrations and I’d imagine they will come out with all guns blazing for this Cup final.
City comfortably beat Spurs the last times the sides met 3-0 in the league and with captain Harry Kane facing a late fitness test it’s hard to see how Spurs will be able to trouble City too much without their star striker being at 100%.
City should have too much dominance going forward and I think they can pull away and win this one with relative ease. Our first leg is Man City to Win inside the 90.
Both Teams To Score? No
Four of the last five meetings between these sides have failed to see both teams score. With Kane a big injury concern – even if he plays he won’t be fully fit – I don’t think Tottenham will scare Man City on too many occasions and City can keep the clean sheet.
Spurs will look to sit in deep and break quickly using Son Heung-Min, but Kyle Walker is the most effective full-back in the league at preventing these counter-attacks. City have the best defensive record in the league this season, and I’m expecting them to remind us why this Sunday with Both Teams To Score? No.

The Spanish full-back will be kept busy all afternoon, regardless of who Man City have on the right-hand side. Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden will all fancy their chances taking on the Spanish defender, who will have to be cynical on some occasions to stop City’s free-flowing football. Don’t be surprised to see Sergio Reguilon get booked.
Phil Foden to have 1 or more shot on target
Phil Foden is in great form at the moment, scoring two crucial Champions League goals in both legs against Borussia Dortmund. He played a starring role in last year’s win over Aston Villa, is averaging 1.9 shots per game in all competitions this season and will be keen to score his first cup final goal at Wembley.
Expect Phil Foden to have 1 or more shot on target. With a few efforts from distance, we just need one to trouble Hugo Lloris to get this leg of our Bet Builder ticked off.
