Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson is clearly on a quest to conquer the hearts and minds of all Scousers as he previews Friday’s Arsenal v Everton clash with PPTV. With the hosts missing a raft of first-team players and Everton’s squad in good shape, Thommo can see an away win.

But what’s his score prediction and who’s finding the net? Here’s the great man explaining all.

Friday 8pm: Arsenal v Everton

Arsenal would have a good chance of winning if they had a fully fit squad. But as we go into this game, with news on the injury front from both sides, it bodes well for Everton but it is not good for Arsenal.

They normally have the better of this fixture but there’s no Pierre-Emerick- Aubameyang, obviously he’s got malaria, Alexandre Lacazette’s out, David Luiz is out, Kieran Tierney’s out. Some of their best players are out, there. I do believe both teams will score in this one, who will score for Arsenal?

This is a big one and Everton do have some big hitters, but let’s look at Arsenal. It’s been that sort of season for them, hasn’t it? They won their opening two games at home and since then they’ve only won four of 14 Premier League games which is absolutely astonishing.

It shows that Mikel Arteta is still trying to get his team sorted. You look at them against Fulham it took 97 minutes for Eddie Nketiah to get them a draw out of it. There’s a lot of things not going right there.

Aubameyang, is he going to be the new Mesut Ozil? Since he got his new contract he just does not seem to have his heart there. They’ve scored just 19 goals in 16 Premier League games at home so they’re not great there.

So, you look at Everton. No win in five games but these have picked up more points, 11 more points away from home than they have at home, so that is all looking better. They’ve been so poor at Goodison Park, Everton. I don’t know why that is.

Everton have not won or even scored in their last two away. That could be worrying a lot of people who are looking where they’re going to put their money on Friday night but they’ve won seven of their last 11 away.

They do have Dominic Calvert-Lewin who’s going to be fit, Yerry Mina’s fit, Andre Gomes is fit, Fabian Delph is fit and Bernard is fit so on the injury front they’re going to have not only a decent team out there but a good bench.

THOMMO’S TIPS: As you can see I’m erring on the side of Everton here but I do fancy Both Teams to Score. I am going for Everton to win this 2-1. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be chomping at the bit to Score Anytime so I’m going for him to score one of those goals. And, maybe a little bit of a punt, but I’m going for Gabriel Martinelli to Score Anytime for the Gunners.
