NEW TO PADDY POWER?

Phil Thompson has revealed his best bets for Tuesday’s Champions League action, combining the pair of picks in a deadly double for Paddy Power punters.

Our brand ambassador is backing Chelsea to complete the job against Porto, having already beaten the Portuguese outfit 2-0 in the first leg of their quarter-final, while Thommo also expects Bayern Munich to turn the tables on PSG after their first-leg thriller last week.

8pm: Chelsea v Porto – Chelsea to Win

Porto were the draw that every English team wanted, and the Portuguese side will have been thinking “You haven’t done us any favours there” after West Brom beat Chelsea 5-2 earlier this month.

What that did was rankle Chelsea, and Thomas Tuchel was probably angry about losing that wonderful record of clean sheets.

So what did Chelsea do? They were almost guaranteed to get a clean sheet in the Champion League last week. They were comfortable then and I see the second leg as also being comfortable.

I can see this as a nice 2-0 scoreline, although I’m probably doing Porto a bit of good by saying just 2-0.

8pm: PSG v Bayern Munich – Bayern Munich to Win

Listening to what the majority of pundits said after the first leg (Bayern Munich 2-3 PSG), I’m tempted to agree – it was an astonishing performance by PSG… and also by Bayern Munich! How Bayern didn’t win that game is mind-boggling. I think they had around 30 attempts on goal, but PSG were electric on the counter-attack.

Tuesday, 20.00: PSG v Bayern Munich
BT Sport 3/BT Sport Ultimate

I don’t think Bayern Munich will get sucked into the same sort of game again. They’re too savvy. I’m not sure if Robert Lewandowski is going to be playing, and if he does it will make it much easier for Bayern. Either way, I fancy Bayern Munich to go through.

Phil Thompson’s Champions League double

20:00 Tuesday: Chelsea v Porto – Chelsea to Win
20:00 Tuesday: PSG v Bayern Munich – Bayern Munich to Win

There might be a bit of value in my Champions League double on Tuesday. Chelsea will be quite hot favourites but Bayern Munich will get a bit of value into the double – both of them to win in the 90 minutes.
