There are people making a fortune nationwide on those Last Man Standing competitions from just backing the teams that are playing Sheffield United.

They’ve been about as bad as any Premier League side in recent years. taking just FOUR points away from home all year.

New to Paddy Power?

Their only clean sheets all year came against Newcastle (obviously) and Aston Villa, while up until last week they didn’t take a single point from a game in which they didn’t open the scoring in.

They’ve had just three players score multiple goals for them in the league all season. Two of those combine for an age of 68, and the other is a 20-year-old child and defender.

They sacked a manager despite already being relegated, who is the only available option to have ‘getting a Championship side promoted in recent history’ on his CV. On top of all that, they’ve only scored multiple times at home on two occasions this year – once against Man United, which they lost and the other against West Brom.

So with all that being said, you’d fancy them to sneak a point against Arsenal wouldn’t you? Here’s your three best bets for this encounter.

Short-price punt: Half-Time – Arsenal

My issue with Arsenal isn’t how they start games against lesser opposition, it’s everything else. If this is the one certainty they can afford me, then I’ll take the price.

The issue with them is they’re so lax to actually gear up for important games because they just expect that boring idea of their principles coming to the fore and being better than everyone else. Of course, the fun element of this game is that they just are so much better than the opposition here that they’ll be fine to a point.

Back them to come out at a half-pace and comfortably notch up a lead by the referee’s half-time whistle.

Value Punt: A Red Card in the Match

This either means Arsenal are out of sight and Sheffield United are finally putting an exclamation mark on how bad their season has been, or as I suspect, the Blades will mount a spirited comeback and the Gunners are once again reminded that the media coverage of them being spineless is merited.

Honestly, I’m a Birmingham City fan and I genuinely believe I’ve had fewer frustrations than Arsenal supporters over the last ten years. It’s a wild ride in north London, isn’t it?

Long Shot: Sheffield United to Come From Behind and Win

This is the biggest price I’ve put up here, but it’s a market I like only when featuring certain teams. Luckily for us, Arsenal are one of those.

While they may rush into an easy lead, they’re one of those sides who, despite looking comfortable, never see out the job that’s expected of them – and end up in a game that really should have been put to bed at the hour mark.

If Sheffield United go full brute force, then Arsenal will have to shake off the cobwebs nice and early in order to deal with the momentum swing.
