Newcastle just love making things difficult for themselves. Going into the international break they’d been on a run of six matches without a win and, while making flirty eyes at the relegation zone all season, they’re going to get dragged into it if they don’t get something positive here.

Sunday 2.05pm: Newcastle v Tottenham
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Jose Mourinho’s Spurs have won four out of their last five in the league and as the visiting team at St James’ Park they’ve beaten the home side in five out of six previous encounters. Let’s go through the stats and find the three best bets.

Spurs to Win & Both Teams To Score

Looking at Newcastle’s home and away form and it’s easy to see where they’re struggling; they’re not getting enough goals. Over their last four away matches they’ve scored just one goal. At home, while not winning many, they are, at least, scoring and have gotten at least one in eight out of their last nine at St James’ Park. Both Teams to Score has landed in eight out of those last nine home league matches as well.

Spurs’ away form hasn’t been great in the league, winning two and losing three of their last five on their travels. But, coming up against a Newcastle side who have won just one of their last eight at home, Spurs should have enough to come out on top. Spurs have kept just two clean sheets over their last 10 on the road so Newcastle should be good for at least one and Both Teams To Score has landed in four out of the last five meetings between the sides here as well. The most likely outcome is a Spurs Win with Both Teams Scoring.

Harry Kane Tottenham

Spurs HT/FT

Spurs have been the second best team in the league in terms of first half goals and results, they’ve been ahead in 14 out of their 29 Premier League matches at half time and have scored a very healthy 28 goals. Looking at their away matches, Spurs have been ahead in six out of their 15 away matches, drawing six and losing just three, scoring 13 over those games.

Newcastle have been awful in the first half of their home Premier League matches. Over 14 home matches they’ve been ahead at halt time in just three, drawing six and losing five, scoring an embarrassingly-bad total of seven goals. Add to this the fact that Spurs have scored a first half goal in all five of their most recent league matches and you can see why we’re going with Spurs HT/FT here.

Harry Kane to Score Anytime

Harry Kane is the current top scorer in the Premier League thanks to having found the back of the net on 17 occasions, along with Liverpool’s Mo Salah, but the Spurs’ man also has an incredible 13 assists to his name as well. Obviously enough he’s enjoying a good run of form of late, having scored a total of six over his last seven matches in all competitions for Spurs and bagging two while on England duty as well.

Against Newcastle, Kane has scored five over his 12 appearances. The vast majority of those have come while playing at home but with him in such great form of late he’s the most likely of all of Spurs’ players to get his name on the scoresheet here. Kane gets the nod to Score Anytime from me.
