New to Paddy Power?

With the finish line fast approaching, the EFL’s 72 clubs are scrabbling harder than ever for every point on offer. We’ve picked out the four best bets available on Easter Monday which will hopefully set you on the right path for a nice bank holiday acca.

Swansea v Preston – Swansea to Win

Swansea have had a serious wobble and their automatic promotions hopes might have been terminally dented both by Watford’s imperious form and their own failings which saw them lose the derby with Cardiff and get thumped 3-0 by Bournemouth before the international break.

The rest didn’t do them much good and they lost 1-0 to Birmingham City on Friday. It looks like they’ll need to be faultless from here on out to overhaul the deficit to The Hornets in 2nd. Preston’s bonkers campaign seems to be petering out and they realistically should be safe from the drop.

With the heat ramping up at The Liberty we’re approaching do-or-die time for the Jack Army and nothing other than three points against an out of form PNE side will do. We’re backing Swansea to Win now that the pressure of a top-two finish might have eased a little. They’re too good not to find form again soon.

Bristol Rovers v Doncaster – Doncaster to Win

Joey Barton’s Bristol Rovers are in dire form and need a serious turnaround if they are to stay in League One. Similarly, Doncaster will need to improve their poor results if they are to get out of the league at the other end.

The Pirates are 23rd and have lost all of their last five games, winning just three of the last 21. Donny haven’t dealt with the departure of Darren Moore to Sheffield Wednesday well, winning just twice since he headed to Hillsborough and not at all in the last six.

Doncaster will have few better opportunities to get back on the wagon than against Bristol Rovers. I think we’ll see a Doncaster Win which will give them the boost they badly need to launch a late playoff surge.

Wigan v Portsmouth – Portsmouth to Win

Wigan are still battling gamely to stay in League One after finally coming out of administration following their recent takeover. There may be a good feel around the club but fresh investment can do nothing to affect the outcome of this season.

They’re 22nd in League One, just two points behind Swindon in 20th. They’ll be looking to other fixtures as more realistic chances to get some vital points as it’s 5th placed Portsmouth travelling to the DW Stadium on Easter Monday.

Pompey had been struggling a bit with four losses coming before three wins on the bounce. Like Doncaster, we’re hoping the playoff contenders in this match can show their superiority with away victory and a Portsmouth Win.

Grimsby v Cheltenham – Cheltenham to Win

Grimsby have had a woeful season that’s seen them record just three wins on home turf all season. In contrast, Cheltenham have won more on the road than League Two’s bottom club have amassed anywhere all season.

Cheltenham are on course for automatic promotion after suffering playoff heartbreak last term and will be licking their lips at the prospect of facing the worst team in the EFL as one of their few remaining games. Grimsby have improved a bit recently, going seven unbeaten with a win and six draws.

However, Cheltenham are a different proposition altogether – they thumped automatic rivals Tranmere 4-0 on Friday – and they’ll be desperate for the points with a raft of teams competing for the three automatic promotion spots in this division. Grimsby are getting better, they couldn’t get much worse, but their unbeaten streak should come a cropper with a Cheltenham Win here.
