Leicester To Win

Leicester look a reasonable betting proposition given Man United negotiated a difficult Europa League hurdle in Milan on Thursday night, but did so with a first choice starting team and did not come through the game unscathed. Marcus Rashford came off at half-time for Paul Pogba and looks unlikely to feature against The Foxes.

However, Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial look set to return to add to United’s forward options with Pogba a likely starter after his winning goal off the bench in mid-week. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may even decide to give Donny van de Beek a rare start with Bruno Fernandes looking badly in need of a week off.

Whatever team Solskjaer picks will have a difficult job breaking down a three-man central defence of Jonny Evans, Caglar Soyuncu and the precociously gifted Wesley Fofana, with the tireless Wilfred Ndidi screening in front of the centre halves. One also suspects that Leicester’s extremely athletic and mobile strike partnership of Jamie Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho will give Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire serious problems when given space to run on the counter attack too, especially as both defenders are lacking in speed.

Given that issue, Solskjaer may turn towards a quicker alternative in Axel Tuanzebe with Maguire another United player looking weary with his heavy workload. Tuanzebe has struggled with limited game time for most of this season, but did produce an outstanding performance against Kylian Mbappé and Co in United’s unexpected victory in Paris in the Champions League back in October.

That was a performance of such promise that it’s been surprising he hasn’t been given more game time to see whether that level could be a trend or just an outlier. Given his track record, we can probably expect Solskjaer will pick a similar team to the one that started in Milan and it will be hard for United to muster enough energy levels to keep a flying Leicester at bay.

Harry Maguire To Be Carded

If Harry Maguire does the start the game, he looks a good bet to pick up a card. Maguire has more Premier League bookings this season than any other United player and as outlined above, this will be a difficult match-up for him against Leicester’s rapid strike partnership.

Youri Tielemans To Have A Shot On Target

With James Maddison and Harvey Barnes absent, there is more on onus on the talented Belgian midfielder to play in a more advanced forward role in Leicester’s preferred 3-5-2 formation. Tielemans has also had three shots on target in his last five matches, so don’t be surprised if he finds the target at least once here.

Jamie Vardy To Have A Shot On Target

We know we are getting a short price here, but Jamie Vardy is in the top 10 in the Premier League for shots per game. He will also be desperate to break his scoring drought run of only one goal since Christmas.
