3pm: Barnsley vs Birmingham – Barnsley to win
The contrast between Barnsley this season and last season is remarkable. The Tykes were dead and buried with two games to go at the end of last season and stayed up by virtue of successive injury time winners against promotion-chasing Nottingham Forest and Brentford, while several other results also went their way.
This season, Barnsley look a good bet to make the playoffs as the Championship season approaches its climax. They have now won six games in-a-row following Wednesday’s win at QPR and could find themselves in the top six if results go in their favour over the weekend.
Birmingham, meanwhile, are well and truly in a relegation dogfight after a dismal run of three wins from their last 17 games and they will be looking nervously over their shoulder at Rotherham in 22nd who are just three points behind with two games in hand. It’s hard to see Blues getting anything from this game and they could be cast further into the relegation mire by dinner time on Saturday.
3pm: Reading vs Sheffield Wednesday – Reading to win
Sheffield Wednesday’s survival hopes were dealt a crushing blow on Wednesday night with the concession of a 97th-minute winner against fellow strugglers Rotherham. It will be hard for Wednesday to pick themselves off the floor after such a devastating loss now that they find themselves seven points adrift of safety.
Reading, on the other hand, have just won two games in-a-row without conceding a goal as they attempt to solidify their place in the top-six at the business end of the season. This is a huge opportunity for the Royals to boost their momentum ahead of the run-in and they need to take it with both hands.
3pm: Bristol City vs QPR – Bristol City to win
Three weeks ago, this would have looked like a guaranteed QPR win based on the two sides’ contrasting form. QPR had won four games on the bounce against promotion-chasing sides and appeared to have gotten over a mid-season blip. Bristol, meanwhile, had lost games in-a-row and were plummeting down the Championship table.
However, QPR have now picked up one point from their last three against sides that they were at their level, while the Robins have won of their last three games, taking the scalps of promotion-chasing Swansea and Middlesbrough. Nigel Pearson appears to have had an immediate impact and they can continue their decent form against a QPR side that has lost its way in recent weeks.

3pm: Norwich vs Luton – Norwich to win
There appears to be no stopping runaway league leaders Norwich as they continue their constant yoyoing between the first and second tier of English football. Norwich have now won six games on the bounce and have extended their lead at the top to ten points, leaving Brentford, Watford and Swansea to fight it out over second place.
They will fancy themselves against mid-table Luton, who recorded an impressive win at a resurgent Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night but are nowhere near the quality of Daniel Farke’s side. Luton currently sit 13th after a patchy run of three wins, two draws, and two defeats from their last seven games and should pose little problems to Norwich as they continue their relentless march back to the Premier League.
