PPTV broadcaster Carl Monaghan has picked out four games which should boast plenty of goals.

Porto v Juventus

The first leg of this bold Both Teams to Score Acca is the Porto v Juventus game. The Old Lady visit the Portuguese champions in really good form domestically with seven wins in their last nine in all competitions. Juve lost 1-0 to Napoli at the weekend but have been steadily improving under the guidance of Andrea Pirlo recently. Porto come into the game with four draws in their last four games but the Portuguese outfit go well at home. Remember they played out a scoreless draw with Man City on Portuguese soil in the group stages back in December.

They are formidable at home and have only lost once at the Estadio do Dragao all season. They are also hard to beat and have lost just once in their last 25 competitive games. Mehdi Taremi is the main goal threat for Porto. He has nine for the season with three coming in his last five. So with an attack of Taremi, Luis Diaz and Moussa Marega that have scored 22 goals between them this season, there should be enough firepower to breach the Juve rearguard.

In terms of Juve winning the game, this is an easier argument to push. They have won 10 of their last 13 (albeit needed ET to see off Genoa 3-2). But after a quiet-ish January, Cristiano Ronaldo is back doing what he does best and that is scoring goals for fun. He has three in four and 22 so far for the season in all competitions.

It’s not all on CR7 to score either for Juve this season as Federico Chiesa has hit seven since joining on-loan from Fiorentina whilst former Chelsea man Alvaro Morata has a tally of 12 to his name so far. There has been over 2.5 goals scored in the last 4 Champions League games involving Juve so I think we will see goals from both sides in this one.

Levante v Atletico Madrid

The second leg of the acca is a place I normally would not go to but it is one I have had to learn the hard way of late. When you think of Atletico Madrid and Diego Simeone we think of ultra-defensive aggressive win-at-all-costs football. Now, this is still pretty much the case, but gone are the days of the unbreachable Atletico defence.

Since the turn of the year, they have conceded seven goals in their last six games. Their last clean sheet came against Sevilla back in early January and they’ve conceded in their last five games in La Liga. Levante beat Real Madrid recently on the road and in striker Roger, who has five in his last seven, they definitely have goals in their side.

Sevilla v Borussia Dortmund

Form is at polar opposites for these two with Dortmund arriving in Andalucía lying 6th in the Bundesliga, having won just one game in their last six. Sevilla lie 4th in La Liga and have won their last eight in all competitions, including a 2-0 win over Barcelona last week.

Sevilla came out of a group that had Chelsea in it and showed their defensive qualities when getting a point in a scoreless draw at Stamford Bridge. They have also managed to score 17 in their last eight on this impressive winning run and look very likely to score against a wounded Dortmund.

But, in Erling Braut Haaland their opponents have one of the most exciting young strikers in world football. The Norwegian has scored eight in eight, but this is actually a somewhat quiet spell for him as he drew a blank during this run in four of the games!

He also loves playing in the Champions League and scored in all four group stage matches he was fit to play in. This is why Dortmund are always good for a goal no matter what form they are in as long. I see a comfortable Sevilla win here but one in which the German outfit should definitely get a goal to bring back with them for the second leg.

Swansea v Notts Forest

Swansea lie third in the Championship table and welcome Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening. Forest arrive 16th in the table but have enjoyed a bit of a resurgence form-wise as they are unbeaten in their last four and have managed to score five goals in their last two games on the road in the Championship.

Automatic promotion-chasing Swansea have won six of their last eight and there was no shame in losing 3-1 to Pep Guardiola’s bulldozing Manchester City in the FA Cup last time out.

Wednesday 7pm: Swansea v Notts Forrest
Sky Sports Red Button

The Welsh outfit played host to Forest in the FA Cup third round and thrashed them 5-1. That was the second victory over Chris Hughton’s side this season after the Swans took victory with a 1-0 at the City Ground back in November.

I don’t see that changing here but with only one clean sheet in their last four and the fact that Forest have been scoring on the road of late, Swansea to win and BTTS looks very attractive me.
