7.45pm: Brentford v Bristol City – Brentford to Win and BTTS

Brentford are absolutely irresistible at the moment. Thomas Frank’s side have gone an incredible 19 games without defeat in the The Championship and the odds for Wednesday’s clash with Bristol City reflect this.

The Bees have bumbled their way up to 3rd in the league and they’re now six points behind leaders Norwich with a game in hand heading into the midweek fixtures. For City, they’re down to 9th and face a battle to make it into the playoffs after a promising start to the season.

The Robins have been improving of late, but their positive results have come on home soil. They’ve won three of their last six, with all of those triumphs coming at Ashton Gate. They’ve lost their last five away league games on the bounce. They simply do not travel well.

There is no case for them winning at Brentford on Wednesday. The Bees have won four of their last five home games, drawing the other, and they’ve won five of their last six home and away. As good as Brentford are going forward, they almost always concede and that’s where we’re finding the value in this game.

They’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last eight league games and while City are not always bulletproof going forward, they’re pretty good and have fired a blank in just three of their last eight games. Everything is pointing towards a home win here but, to juice up the price considerably, we’re backing Brentford to Win and Both Teams To Score on Wednesday night.

7.45pm: Rangers v St Johnstone – Rangers to win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0

Like with the Brentford v Bristol City game it’s impossible to see past anything other than a home win as Rangers welcome St Johnstone to Ibrox. Rangers are literally unstoppable on home soil and have won all 12 of their Scottish Premiership games there this season – scoring 38 and conceding just one goal in the process.

They’ve already beaten St Johnstone 3-0 on two occasions and we’re banking on history repeating itself again on Wednesday night. As you are undoubtedly aware, Steven Gerrard’s men are already home and hosed in the Scottish Premiership and they’ve racked up 72 points from 26 games, failing to win on just three occasions while remaining unbeaten all season.

They’re 23 points ahead of their great rivals Celtic who occupy 2nd place but The Bhoys do have two games in hand. They probably need 10 more than that, though. The Saints are 8th with 27 points from 26 games and they’ll be hoping to consolidate their top-flight status in the remainder of the season.

You cannot look anywhere other than a Gers win here, it’s simply a case of finding the value. I was tempted to go with Rangers to Win to Nil but will instead tip up Rangers to win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 at better odds.

As mentioned, Rangers have already beaten their opponents 3-0 twice this season and the only danger to this selection seems to be if Gerrard’s men go goal mad. They have notched up more than three goals on multiple occasions this season but just once in the last 10 so they look to be becoming a bit more frugal as the finish line gets ever closer.

The Saints are quite deadly on the road and it’s been nine games since they drew a blank away from McDiarmid Park – but this is Rangers who they’re up against on Wednesday. St Johnstone will be heading to Glasgow hoping to keep the beating to a minimum and Rangers to win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 feels like the best-value bet on offer here.

Tips for Wednesday

7.45pm: Brentford v Bristol City – Brentford to Win and BTTS
7.45pm: Rangers v St Johnstone – Rangers to win 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0

These two selections in a double will give you odds of around 7/1 with Paddy Power.
