6.00pm Sheffield United v West Bromwich Albion – Sheffield Utd to win
There’s a proper relegation six-pointer at Bramall Lane on Tuesday evening as bottom side Sheffield United host the team one place above them, West Bromwich Albion.
It’s been a horrific season for the Blades, who have faltered after the promise they showed in the league last season. But there are some green shoots for Chris Wilder’s men. They had their best result of the season by far two games ago, when Oliver Burke’s late strike gave them an unlikely victory at Old Trafford. They followed that up with a gutsy 1-0 defeat to Man City, and those performances suggest that Sheffield United are starting to find some form at a crucial time.

West Brom were left ruing a late Ivan Cavaleiro equaliser for Fulham in their latest league game, which robbed Sam Allardyce’s men of a vital three points. West Brom have shipped an alarming amount of goals since Big Sam took over the side, and it is these defensive deficiencies which could prove the difference in this game. Sheffield Utd are in the last chance saloon and I expect them to just about edge what promises to be a tight, nervy game.
8.15pm: Newcastle v Crystal Palace – Both Teams to Score
There’s a fascinating clash at St James’ Park on Tuesday between two teams coming off excellent victories. Steve Bruce would have been breathing a huge sigh of relief as he left Goodison Park after the under-fire manager’s team pulled off a shock victory over Everton.
The Magpies gaffer had been under enormous pressure after and appalling run of results, but a Callum Wilson brace fired them to victory and the relative comfort of 15th, eight points above the relegation trapdoor. Wilson will again be the key man for Newcastle, and he will be looking forward to playing a Palace outfit that have plenty of injury worries.

Roy Hodgson’s men are set to be without several players, notably defenders, and the wily boss will have his work cut out keeping Wilson off the scoresheet. What Palace do have are a pair of attackers that are starting to form a lethal tandem. Wifried Zaha and Eberechi Eze have been on fire lately, and they will fancy their chances of keeping this going against a Newcastle team that have kept only two clean sheets in the last 11 league games.
Eze scored the winner against Wolves at the weekend, and the summer signing from QPR has really impressed lately. This game could go either way, so the safest betting option looks to be backing both teams to score at almost even money.
