Paddy’s football ambassador and Liverpool legend Phil Thompson locked horns with our top football trader and Manchester United supporter Jason Murphy ahead Sunday’s big game.

You won’t be surprised to hear the pair didn’t agree on much, but they both had interesting and forthright views about how this game was going to pan out at Anfield this weekend. So lads, take it away.

4.30pm: Liverpool v Man Utd

THOMMO: I fancy Liverpool massively this weekend for the simple fact that Manchester United have now gone about them. All of a sudden Jurgen Klopp won’t have to motivate these players. Not one. You won’t even need a crowd there. Liverpool will be fired up for this game.

I think although the back two are a bit strange at the moment, Liverpool are a better team. Come Sunday they will be fired up for this game and I see nothing but a Liverpool victory.

Sunday 4.30pm: Liverpool vs Manchester United
Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

JASON: I think United are going to be quite solid. The full-backs aren’t going to go forward, Liverpool are going to have most of the ball. United are going to have that back six with the four defenders and two central midfielders and let the four in attack go and try and win the game if they can on the counter.

From a goal-scoring angle you never put anyone off backing Sadio Mane or Mo Salah, you just can’t. But for United, I think there’s a great angle. If Joel Matip doesn’t play this game, the Liverpool players, on average, are giving away about two inches to the United team.

In terms of set pieces, Liverpool are brilliant in attacking situations but if United can do likewise and get Harry Maguire involved he’ll be the tallest player on that pitch. I think Maguire in double figures to Score Anytime is a great bet.

Also, this weekend Paddy is giving away a free £5 bet on any Bet Builder of 2+ legs. For me, Harry Maguire to Score and Fred to be Carded – which should be in the 25-33/1 bracket – is the double I’d go for.

The verdict

THOMMO: I know we’re thinking there might not be goals but I am going for Sadio Mane and Mo Salah to Score Anytime and I fancy a 3-1 score line to Liverpool

JASON: The head over heart is telling me to back The Draw. That’s the value in the 90 minutes. For United fans I think Harry Maguire to Score Anytime is definitely worth a look. But with my heart, as a United fan, what I would love to see is a Bruno Fernandes winner in the 90th minute with a retaken penalty. That would make my weekend!
