Wolves to win and both teams to score

Saturday sees a meeting between two of the most out-of-form teams in the Premier League and both clubs are in desperate need of a win.

Wolves are now without a win in their last five league games, picking up just two points from their last available 15 during a precipitous fall down the Premier League table. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won just one of their last eight games and currently sit three points above Newcastle having played a game more.

Their poor form is in stark contrast with their previous two seasons in the Premier League, which were both free of drama or worrying runs of results. Wolves are far too good to go down, but they will want to arrest this poor run of results and start moving up the league table as soon as possible.

West Brom, on the other hand, have been even worse than Wolves in recent weeks. The Baggies have failed to win in their last seven games and lost their last two games by a combined score of 9-0.

They are the worst defensive team in the division by far, conceding a staggering 39 goals in their 17 league games to date. They have conceded 20 goals in their seven-game winless run and it is almost a given that they will concede at Molineux.

However, Wolves are also without a clean sheet in their last 11 games and will probably have to score twice to claim a vital three points.

Pedro Neto to score anytime

Wolves have struggled massively in the absence of Raul Jimenez – something that is emphasised by the fact that the Mexican striker is still their joint-top scorer this season despite not playing since November.

Only Pedro Neto can match Jimenez’s goal tally, but he has played almost double the number of games as the Mexican. Having said that, Neto has showed glimpses of what he can do at just 20 years of age and his goals have been absolutely vital to Wolves’ cause this season.

The Portuguese forward has won seven points for his side this season, scoring in three one-goal victories and coming up with the equaliser when Wolves played Southampton in November. He scored in Wolves’ two most eye-catching results of the season against Arsenal and Chelsea and will look to break his five-goal scoring duck against a side that actively helps its opponents score goals.

Wolves Half-time/Full-time

West Brom have gone in behind at half time in each of their last five games in all competitions, including their FA Cup tie against League One Blackpool, and there is a very good chance that they could stretch that unenviable run to six games at Molineux.

Sam Allardyce’s side have been defensively shambolic and seem to gift their opponents at least one goal in every game they play. They have conceded inside the opening 12 minutes in five of their last seven league games and it is no surprise that they find themselves in such a perilous position at the halfway stage of the Premier League season.

They need to address their early defensive mishaps, but Wolves will be looking to pounce early on and put the game beyond their hapless opponents.
