Lazio v Roma, Friday 7.45pm: Premier Sports

Lazio face fierce rivals Roma under the Friday night lights of the Stadio Olimpico, the famous stadium that both teams share. Lazio warmed up for their biggest game of the season with back-to-back wins and could not be in better form while high flying Roma sit third in the table and come into this game having drawn with Inter Milan last time out in a game they will feel they should have won.

Both sides will be able to call on full-strength sides for the clash and have serious attacking options with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Edin Dzeko up-front for Roma, with Lazio boasting an impressive front three of Adam Marusic, Felipe Caicedo and Ciro Immobile. Last season the roles were reversed in terms of league positions but it made no difference with both fixtures finishing in 1-1 draws. Proof, perhaps, that form in this derby generally goes out the window.

The Derby della Capitale is never for the faint-hearted and this colossal clash feels the absence of no crowds more than most. With two in-form teams and serious attacking talent I’m expecting goals, but the bet for me here is a fiercely competitive draw.

Montpellier v Monaco, Friday 8pm: BT Sport ESPN

Over in France, Montpellier will attempt to end a five-game winless run when they welcome Monaco to the Stade de la Mosson on Friday night. Monaco have been inconsistent at times this term but will be looking for their third straight win since the turn of the year in this one.

Montpellier, like a lot of teams across Europe, are not enjoying playing in an empty home stadium and their winless streak on home turf is now at four, which has seen them drop to eighth in the table. Monaco have started the year in flying form scoring eight goals and conceding just twice. Last weekend’s resounding 3-0 win over Angers was perhaps their best performance of the season.

After last weekend’s victory against a side who are two points ahead of Montpellier in the table, I think this match will be one-way traffic and an easy win for Monaco.
