Arsenal host Crystal Palace in the only Premier League fixture on Thursday in what promises to be a feisty London derby. The Gunners are looking to make it five wins on the trot in all competitions while Palace have looked shaky of late.
Mikel Arteta will be delighted with recent results and the fact his captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang returned to action with a goal in their recent win against Newcastle in the FA Cup. Arteta will hope his star man will start to bang in the goals as his tally of three goals in the Premier League this season is simply not good enough for a player of his calibre.
Arsenal v Crystal Palace, Thursday 8pm: Sky Sports Premier League
Roy Hodgson will be looking to get something going against Arsenal with the Eagles having only won one of their last seven. Palace have conceded the third-most goals in the Premier League this season and come up against one of the most-in sides here. The Eagles can at least take comfort in their recent head-to-head record against the Gunners after going unbeaten in their last four fixtures.
They say the league table never lies and there is just one point between them. For me, the bet here is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang To Score Anytime. I think there will be goals in this game and his return to form against Newcastle will give him confidence. Aubameyang is surely a certain starter and form is temporary, class is permanent.
High-flying Atalanta enter the Coppa Italia at the last-16 stage on Thursday as underdogs Cagliari make the long trip to Bergamo in the hope of a first-ever cup win. The contrast in form between the two clubs could not be starker as they prepare to meet at the Gewiss Stadium with the hosts winning their last three, scoring 12 goals in the process, to climb to fifth place in Serie A.
Atalanta v Cagliari, Thursday 8.15pm: BT Sport 1
Cagliari are winless since early November and on their last visit to Bergamo earlier this season were thumped 5-2. Eusebio Di Francesco is under fire and struggling to keep his job, so a cup game with his side just two points above the relegation zone is the last thing he needs. They are conceding on average two goals per game in Serie A and their opponents have scored 40 goals in the league so far, which is bettered only by Inter.
A heavy defeat is expected for Cagliari, and it’s not only a long trip but a long night ahead for the team and their manager. The bet here is Atalanta (-2).
