Paddy’s football ambassador Phil Thompson is expecting an FA Cup drubbing at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. League Two outfit Morecambe head to Chelsea looking to stage on of the biggest potential upsets of the round.
However, Thommo thinks Frank Lampard will go with a strong side to build some confidence in some of his misfiring players – and that spells big problems for the Lancashire outfit.
This will be an almighty change of scenery for Chelsea. I think they’ll see this as an easy win but again, wouldn’t it be great for Kai Havertz and Timo Werner to be out there and to score a few goals. There’s a positive reaction to that, isn’t there?
I’d like to think that Frank Lampard will go for it. One has got to start and one has to come on at half time. I think Olivier Giroud will play and there’s talk of him moving on, isn’t there?
Sunday 1.30pm: Chelsea v Morecambe BBC Red Button, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport Website
Morecambe aren’t doing bad, they’re 7th in League Two, they’ve won a few on the bounce and beat Grimsby 3-1 last time. But as much as I’d like to tip them, I’m going for a big Chelsea win.
Some of the players that Chelsea are going to put in have to perform because they’ve not been consistent at all. Frank needs a big win as much as anything.
