Buffalo Bills to win the Super Bowl

At the start of the season, the idea of backing Josh Allen to beat Patrick Mahomes in a playoff game in Kansas City would have seemed ludicrous, but Allen has made incredible strides this season. The off-season addition of Stefon Diggs from the Minnesota Vikings has been critical as he has given Allen a much needed ‘go to’ receiver.

Diggs leads the NFL in catches and receiving yards, and he has flourished when given the opportunities he was denied in the Minnesota Vikings conservative rushing-based offense. Diggs and Allen have led the Bills to a passing offense that ranks third in the league by Football Outsiders’ efficiency rankings, which is a quantum leap from the ranking of 20th that the Bills finished with a season ago.

The Bills road to the AFC Championship game looks very doable, with only the Tennessee Titans having the offensive firepower to match up with Allen and company. The Titans will likely be on the other side of the AFC draw and face the Chiefs in the divisional round, in what could be a potential upset possibility.

Presuming things go to script and we get a Chiefs v Bills clash in the AFC Championship game, the Bills have the offense to go toe-to-toe with the Chiefs and possess a better defense lead by cornerback Tre’davious White and are superbly coached by Sean McDermott.

If the Bills can get by the Chiefs, they will have no fear of any NFC team with the AFC clearly being the stronger conference this season. All told, the price makes plenty of appeal on the Bills to go all the way this season for the first time in franchise history.

France to win The Six Nations

The Six Nations looks a two-horse race this season with France having the disadvantage of playing market favourites England in Twickenham this year. However, this French team look to have a potent combination of talent and substance, so they are well capable of winning in London. Shaun Edwards and Fabien Galthie have brought much needed coaching credibility to French rugby and the old stereotypes of ‘flakey’ and ‘inconsistency’ are slowly being shed.

The performance of France’s second team in nearly beating England for the Autumn Nations Cup final was a sign of how of an improved mentality and depth of talent. With a full team to choose from and the young genius Antoine Dupont to the fore, France can go one better at Twickenham and win their first title since 2010.

Liverpool to win the Premier League

Despite a couple of recent slip ups, Liverpool are still best placed to win a weak Premier League this season. If Thiago Alcantara can stay fit, he will give them badly needed subtlety and creativity in midfield which will help them to break down packed defences.

Diogo Jota looked sensational before his injury and if he returns in the next month or so, their forward line should be impossible to stop. Man Utd and Man City aren’t real contenders with City a shadow of their former selves, and United overly reliant on the great Bruno Fernandes.
