Both Tottenham and Leicester approach this game in need of a tonic following disappointing results in midweek.

Leicester, who have been plagued by inconsistency all season, dropped three points at home yet again, suffering their fourth home league defeat in their last six games at the King Power stadium.

Tottenham, on the other hand, lost ground to Liverpool after conceding a last-gasp Roberto Firmino header in what had been a very even game. Spurs ultimately paid the price for setting up shop on the edge of their own penalty area, just like they did on Sunday when they let a 1-0 lead slip at Crystal Palace.

Having said that, Jose Mourinho is unlikely to deviate too far from his safety-first tactics on Sunday against a Leicester side that has all the tools to hurt Spurs, especially away from home.

For all their flaws at home this season, Leicester have been pretty much impeccable on the road aside from their humbling defeat to Liverpool. The Foxes have won five of their six away games in the league so far, including the emphatic 5-2 win at Manchester City, and they are more than capable of taking something from a Spurs side that has overachieved at this stage of the season.

Son Heung-Min to score anytime

Fresh from winning the Puskas Award for his solo goal against Burnley last season, Son Heung-Min looks capable of scoring in every game he plays. His form has been pivotal to Spurs’ lofty league position and his pace is perfectly suited to Mourinho’s counter-attacking game plan.

Alan Curbishley: ‘The longer you’re out, the more you’re forgotten’

The Special One is almost certainly going to persist with the counter-attack on Sunday and he will hope that Son can continue to provide the goods. The South Korean has a staggeringly good shot conversion rate this season, scoring his 11 league goals from just 18 shots.

That statistic perhaps highlights that Spurs’ current form is unsustainable, but it also shows just how ruthless Son has been in front of goal and he can easily take advantage of a somewhat leaky Leicester defence.
