Football Tips: Bristol City and Blackburn can’t be split in our 19/1 midweek treble

We've got big value on offer in The Championship this Wednesday.

7.45pm: Bristol City v Blackburn – The Draw

Our traders are struggling to work out which way Wednesday’s televised Championship game is going to go and I can see why. They do make Blackburn the favourites for their trip to Bristol City which I am finding harder to agree with, though.

Rovers are in the better form, but this is a meeting of two good teams who sit 8th and 9th in the second tier. City hold the advantage in the table and have 27 points from 16 games with eight wins, three draws and five defeats. The Lancashire outfit are one place lower with two points fewer from their seven wins, four draws and five losses.

At Ashton Gate, The Robins have won three, drawn two and lost three. On the road, Blackburn have and identical record of three wins, two draws and three defeats.

Paddy’s trusty traders are very rarely wrong and their odds tell you this could go any which way. Looking at the markets and the various prices on offer I’m struggling to get off the fence and find anything to hang my hat on in terms of trends and potential plays so the safest way to go is for these two decent sides to cancel each other out and we’re on The Draw.

7.45pm: Reading v Birmingham – Reading to Win

Birmingham had a good win at the weekend as they shocked Bristol City 1-0 courtesy of Harlee Dean’s 80th minute winner and they’ve got another tough test in the shape of Reading on Wednesday night. That was their first win in six games and was much needed for already-under-pressure manager Aitor Karanka.

Reading have started sorting themselves out after a disastrous run of four defeats in a row saw them slump from top to 6th. They’re now unbeaten in their last four with two wins and two draws – with both of those wins coming at home.

They welcome The Blues to the Madejski this midweek and will be looking to make that nine points from nine over their last three home games. It looks like The Royals have rediscovered their mojo and it’s worth backing the Reading Win here.

7.45pm: Norwich v Nottingham Forest – Norwich to Win to Nil

Norwich look so nailed on to win this one that they’re almost backable at a still generous odds-on price at Carrow Road against Nottingham Forest. But there’s better value to be had in this game and I think I’ve found it in backing Forest’s woeful goal-scoring form to continue against the best team in the division.

Chris Hughton’s side haven’t scored in five games since they beat Wycombe 2-0 back at the start of last month. Since that win they’ve picked up just one point and are 21st in the Championship with 13 points.

The Canaries lead the division with 31 points and have four wins in their last six. Clean sheets have been hard to come by for the recently-relegated side, but if they’re going to get one against anyone it’s coming against Forest who have just nine goals in 16 games and, as mentioned, none in the last five. At a juicy price Norwich to Win to Nil is the way to go in this game.
