Champions League tips: 6 selections from Paddy’s top trader for Man Utd & Chelsea

Paddy's football trader Jason Murphy delivers his best bets for Chelsea and Manchester United's Champions League clashes this week with PPTV.

8.00pm: Man Utd v PSG

FOOTBALL TIPS: Fernandes to fire for Man Utd v PSG in our 30/1 Same Game Multi

This is the first time Manchester United have won four games in a row since January 2019, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first took over and went on a bit of a run. What that tells you is that United are just too inconsistent. United won’t win trophies or competitions like that. You live on the edge trying to get into the top four if you’re that inconsistent. For this game, looking at the prices, PSG are the value.

PSG did come to Manchester a few years ago and won with Kylian Mbappe scoring in the game, they won 2-0 and were quite comfortable. A few decisions went United’s way in the return leg for that game.

But looking at the teams, PSG to Win is the value play. Both Teams To Score is also an angle. PSG have scored in their last 13 Champions League group matches and United, you would fancy them to get at least one with Marquinhos missing at the back for PSG.

In terms of a goal scorer, Edinson Cavani will be very, very interesting if he starts given his history with PSG. But I’m going to side with a PSG scorer and I’m, going to go with Neymar to Score First because he’s a bigger price than Mbappe at the time of writing.

Neymar’s on penalties and we see a lot of penalties in the Champions League, including the game against Leipzig last week, Neymar got the winner from the spot. At the bigger price, Neymar is what I’d side with if you’re looking for a first goal scorer bet.

8.00pm: Sevilla v Chelsea

WHO WILL BE ARSENAL’S NEXT MANAGER? Allegri favourite to replace Arteta after latest defeat

At the time of writing Chelsea are slight favourites but that could change come kick-off, especially if there are unexpected line-up changes because both of these teams have massive games coming up in the league following this. The game at Stamford Bridge was really competitive and finished 0-0, both teams will possibly be happy with the draw here.

Both teams are already through and given the likely line-up changes neither is likely to be going full throttle with 15 minutes to go. So, for me I’d be looking at the Under 2.5 Goals market and that’s why I can’t split them. You might want to take a look at the draw but Under 2.5 Goals is probably the best bet for this game.

If you’re going the Sevilla route in terms of a first goal scorer then Ivan Rakitic is your man. He’s got two opening goals for them in the Champions League already this season after leaving Barcelona.

Olivier Giroud will probably get a start and he could be the way forward from a Chelsea point of view as well. I don’t mind getting splinters and sitting on the fence! If you haven’t got a strong fancy, we’ll always be honest with punters and tell them. It’s really hard to split the teams and you can see that in the match prices.
