And boy oh boy did they get the rub of the green in Wednesday night’s Champions League last 16 clash with their old friends Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano as Julian Alvarez was adjudged to have kicked the ball twice when scoring his penalty in the shootout.
Maybe he did, maybe he didn’t. We will probably never be sure but the VAR, who is rumoured to be named Florentino Perez Jnr, was lightning fast in ruling the spot-kick out as Real went on to win 4-2 on pens after the tie finished 2-2 on aggregate.
It all felt a bit… unjust, let’s say, so Paddy’s popped his fancy wig on and is stepping in to dish out some justice once again!
