Liverpool are putting in place a series of measures to avoid a repeat of their infamous 2014 title collapse as they extended their lead at the top to 11 points with a comfortable victory 2-0 at struggling Manchester City.
Arne Slot’s side are in a seemingly unassailable position as the title race enters its latter stages, but the Anfield club are taking no chances with their capitulation under Brendan Rodgers still fresh in the memory.

Under Rodgers’ tutelage, Liverpool were close to ending a 24-year wait for what would have been at the time their 19th league title.
However, Rodgers’ side blew a five-point lead with only three games to go that season.
After their away win on Sunday, the Merseysiders announced their three-step plan to ensure they win a record-equaling 20th league title.
“As part of our strategy to avoid sh*tting the bed like we did in 2014, Liverpool FC has contacted the Premier League about cancelling our final fixture of the season against Crystal Palace.”
“Palace are synonymous with derailing team’s seasons by performing like 2012 Barcelona when they have absolutely f*** all to play for.
‘The most famous instance of this of course is the ‘Crystanbul’ game when we surrendered a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 at Selhurst Park.
“We have also contacted fans groups to tell them not to wear t-shirts emblazoned with ‘Premier League Champions 2025.
“There were thousands of idiots wearing similar shirts in 2014 when we threw the title away at home against Chelsea.
“On that topic, all first team players have been issued with state-of-the-art ‘slip-proof’ boots to prevent them from doing a ‘Slippy G’ by sliding about the pitch like a new-born foal on an ice rink and allowing the opponent to score.
“Furthermore, the players have been instructed not to arrange impromptu huddles for the benefit of nearby TV cameras or spout off nonsense about not letting things slip while dabbing their pretend tears with the captain’s armband.
“Failure to adhere to these demands may result in zero Premier League medals and a managerial career in Saudi Arabia.”
