Rangers’ Player of the Season ceremony took place last night with Alphonso Davies scooping awards for both Men’s Goal of the Season and Men’s Player of the Year.
The annual event, originally scheduled for the end of April, was reorganised following the Canadian’s Champions League exploits against Celtic.
Davies struck in the 94th to deny the Hoops a surprise victory in Germany thus depriving them of a place in the knockout stages of the competition.
Rangers chartered a flight for the left-back so that he could attend the hastily arranged gala event at Ibrox last night to receive his double gong.
‘It’s a huge honour to win these awards’, a slightly confused Davies told Paddy Power News.
‘I know last night’s game was the highlight of Rangers’ fan’s season so far.
‘Some supporters came up to me after the ceremony and told me I’d never have to pay for a battered pizza in Glasgow again’, he smiled.

A statement on Rangers’ official website acknowledged Davies’ contribution towards their season.
‘To be honest with you, we considered scrapping the ceremony all together after one of the most embarrassing cup defeats in the club’s history’.
‘Rangers shouldn’t be losing to a team like Manchester United.
‘The Queen’s Park result was a tough one to take too.
‘But fair play to Alphonso, he totally salvaged our season and gave the fans something to cheer about.
‘There’ll be a commemorative DVD out shortly’.
Meanwhile, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers said his aim is to make Celtic a force in Europe again after their heart-breaking Champions League exit.
‘Can Celtic dominate in Europe like they do in the SPL? Yes!’, the 52-year-old told Paddy Power News.
‘All I need is a bit of patience from the fans, some sound recruitment and every other top club in Europe to fold like Rangers did in 2012’.
