Ange Postecoglou has entered Spurs into the Audi Cup after his side’s Carabao Cup humiliation at the hands of Liverpool.
Tottenham, who held a one-goal aggregate lead, arrived at Anfield with what was a fine opportunity to end their 17-year trophy drought.

However, claims that Spurs were ‘back’ proved to be false as Liverpool surprisingly turned out to be better than both Brentford and Elfsborg with the Merseyside club winning 4-0.
And after boasting that he always wins trophies in his second season with clubs, the Australian has resorted to desperate measures to get his hands on some silverware.
‘Not really arsed. We’re concentrating on the Audi Cup, mate’, Postecoglou told Paddy Power News when asked how he felt about Tottenham’s Carabao collapse.
‘We couldn’t beat an egg when it matters but stick us in a meaningless money-spinning pre-season tournament and we turn into Zidane’s Real Madrid.
‘So, we’re waiting to hear back from Audi. Failing that, I’ll stick us in the J League World Challenge again. I’m practically Alex Ferguson in Japan, mate’, boasted the 59-year-old former Yokohama F. Marinos boss.
Being an Arsenal fan must be great. No matter how bad things get, you’ve always got Tottenham to cheer you up.

Meanwhile, the makers of video game Football Manager 25 have revealed the reason they cancelled its release after several delays.
In an update on Thursday, Sports Interactive said it had made the ‘difficult decision’ to cancel the release entirely after ‘internal discussion and careful consideration with Sega’.
Expanding on the delays, Sports Interactive told Paddy Power News:
‘We’re Tottenham fans’.
‘It’s bad enough watching us get battered in real life but losing 17 simulated Spurs games on the bounce during a Football Manager binge is just too much to take.
‘We tried tampering with the AI, saving the game and restarting it after defeats, we even stuck Tonton Zola Moukoko in the Spurs squad – and he ended up with worse stats than Rasmus Højlund!
‘We can’t get Spurs to win a game, never mind a bloody trophy’.
